Lafayette 77 Mercer County 59

Featured Replies

Dont see them anywhere close to Dunbar as a team

If Dunbar is playing well, it's theirs to lose. If not, Lafayette and maybe 4 others are good enough to beat them.

IMO I've seen several of the top teams play. Lafayette is not in the top tier. I've said that all along and now believe it now more than ever. Dunbar, Scott County, Henry Clay are the top three...then the next tier and there is a bit of a drop off between the two. This is not to say that Lafayette cannot win it but they might be lucky to just survive the district tournament...assuming they play Catholic in the semis.

Mercer overrated wouldn't fair well in the 11th. Most over hyped team I've seen all year. Outside of Faulkner just overrated with all the transfers. Shows what playing a weak schedule will do for you. Their guards outside of Faulkner slow and can't guard repeatedly beat off dribble all night.

Yeah yeah. We heard you the first post. Blah blah. Post it again Come on over to Rupp and watch mercer vs dunbar game since your season will be long done and over by that point

Bengal 1, you've had an axe to grind with a couple of Mercer players for about 6 years now, and that shows in your above statement. One is a transfer and one is a guard other than Faulkner. Not that anyone could tell by your comments lol.

Did you watch the same game? Effort, patience, rebounding, and great 3 point shooting is what Lafayette did well on offense. I don't think too

many folks are talking about how the Lafayette backcourt's penetration was a factor. It wasn't. Come on now.

It's gotta be tough living that way. Breathe in, breathe out. Let it go. Now just relax. No need to spew venom at a couple kids over a grudge you can't lay to rest.

I still think Dunbar is the best team I've seen this season. But, they were clicking on all cylinders that night. I like Bowling Green a lot too. Mercer is definitely in the top 5 teams that I've watched. Anyone who trashes them and downplays their season is wrong and probably has a vendetta.

Never thought id live long enough to see a Lafayette fan SO excited to beat Mercer Co....must have been same feeling for Wisconsin fans last yr after UK game....hang in there Bengal1...being a hater aint easy

Lane hit a 3 and was fouled by Dow. Then Dow was called for a T. I couldn't tell what he did or said. Lane hit all 3 free throws and Lafayette on the continuation of the possession hit another 3. Game over.

Dow is always losing his cool in games

Mercer will be in Rupp when its all said and done. I think Mercer plays its best when the big lights are on, such as @Wayne, @Boyle, @ Danville, and their Titan Classic. I believe they seen the Lafayette score against LCA, and figured they could just show up, I dont think they realized EVERY team they played wanted to be the team to end their streak, and to beat the #1 in the state. I think they had a reality check, and will take care of business from here on out leading up to Rupp.

Does Madison Central count as an athletic team?

I wouldn't consider Madison Central athletic. Haven't seen LCA, but based on seeing them last year, I don't think they are extremely athletic either.

I've seen Madison Central and Lafayette. I'd say they are close on athleticism. Lafayette may get the nod between those two but it isn't that far apart.

I ask about LCA being athletic because they whipped Lafayette by 29 but folks says Mercer County can't handle athletic teams. If LCA isn't athletic can't the narrative be that Mercer County laid an egg against Lafaytte just like Lafayette has laid an egg for the last two weeks?

I don't think there is any doubt Mercer just had a really bad game. They didn't lose because Lafayette is athletic.

I have said that I think Mercer might struggle with an athletic team, and some of the things I saw in this game strengthen my opinion in that regard.

I do still think Mercer Co is a top 5 team in the state, and I can see them beating anyone.

IMO Madison Central is more athletic than Lafayette. Central's guards get the edge in that regard. Lafayette doesn't have a John Wiliams. Central also has a shooter like Lafayette has in Lane. Beyond that, Central's backcourt is also much more of a threat to score.

Again, Ross Jenkins is Lafayette's toughest guy to handle and I wouldn't label him as highly athletic. So, when a team's 2 go-to guys are Lane and (Ross) Jenkins, I thinks it's a stretch to label that team as overly athletic.

Danville, who (as stated) beat LCA, is easily the most athletic team that Mercer has faced. It's not even close. Their backcourt is about as quick as you will encounter.

Agreed that Danville is very athletic. Also Blevins and Stearns from Wayne Co are also cat quick guards as well. Stearns might be the most athletic player Mercer has faced IMO

Agreed that Danville is very athletic...Blevins and Stearns from Wayne Co are very athletic as well. Stearns IMO is the most athletic player Mercer has seen. Blevins is the fastest player ive seen this year with the ball
