39th District Tournament

February 22nd---- St. Pat vs. Augusta at 6:30

 

February 23rd---- Bracken Co. vs Mason Co at 6:30

 

Finals will be the 25th at 6:30 and games will be played at the Igloo.

Blind draw, sad to see Bracken/Mason square off in the first round because BC has the ability to knock off Scott or GRC and could make the Lady Royal's trip for back to back Region Titles a little easier.

Worse possible draw for Bracken. But we still play the games so we will see what happens.

 

Bracken playing its best basketball while Mason may be back sliding just a bit. So who knows on any given night. Just a shame that we don't seed.

I know this has been discussed before but please tell me again, Why on Earth is this a blind draw ???? I know different districts do things different ways but some have wrongly settled on the draw.... I know it gets the little guys a chance, but C'mon!

Playing at the Igloo isn't going to make it any easier. Mason better be ready to play. They can't afford a long scoring slump like they had last night vs Rowan.

This team thrives in the postseason, shouldn't be much of a test but you never know, stranger things have happened.

That's a real shame that this district tournament is based on a blind draw. The 2 strongest teams play head to head in the first round. This hurts the regional tournament, letting weaker teams advance. I would have liked to have seen both Bracken and Mason in the regional tournament.

Why don't we do away with the weaker teams and just let the strongest teams play in region?

Teams that make it to the Regional Tournament need to earn it!!! Play your way in, blind draw will allow a team with a less than 500 record make it into the Regional Tournament. The districts should be seeded, best teams move on.

 

I would be ok if only the District Champions made it to the Regional Tournament.

I don't know how many districts don't seed. But it sure seems like the blind draw many years wipes away the chance of the two best teams advancing. It does give the weaker teams a chance. But most likely even if they make it, they get pounded in the 1st game of the Region, so I don't know what the Region as a whole gains from the blind draw.
