I don't know how many districts don't seed. But it sure seems like the blind draw many years wipes away the chance of the two best teams advancing. It does give the weaker teams a chance. But most likely even if they make it, they get pounded in the 1st game of the Region, so I don't know what the Region as a whole gains from the blind draw.

3 districts in the entire state do not seed. Two of them in the 10th region (38th and 39th). The other district is the 54th out of the 14th Region

this had my interest so I went back and did a little digging and discover I am wrong about 3 districts holding a draw.

Its actually 5 districts (out of 64) in the state that draw:

5th (last vote was on 2/20/12)

38 (last vote was on 1/27/11)

39 (last vote was on 1/27/11)

44 (last vote was on 1/6/15)

55 (last vote was on 7/14/11)

Now unless these districts have voted since the date posted I will assume these 5 still draw.

Looks like they should re-vote if it's been that long.

14.Augusta (5-16):

3 of the 5 wins for the Lady Panthers have came against #15 St. Patrick.

15.St. Patrick (7-17):

St. Patrick is struggling really really bad right now, winning just 1 game since the new year, in fact, the Lady Saints are 1-11 since January 1st.

One of these teams moves on to the Regional Tournament. Yeah Blind draw..:thumb:

Blind draw is the stupidest thing ever. The concept isn't hard. Each team plays a round robin and seed the district. I don't understand the whole money thing benefiting the draw format. Don't people want to see the best teams play in the regional? You're going to see 50 point blowouts with a top team playing a team that's 10-15 games below .500

Weaker teams need to earn their spot. They get plenty of chances during the season.

These teams need to earn it, now one of them schools will brag about a tainted regional tournament appearance, undeserving.

6 wins for the Lady Panthers. 2 of those wins are against St. Pat. (St. Pat won one of the meetings)

I don't get the money thing. Won't you either have a good draw when the 2 best teams meet in the district regardless if it's the semis or the finals? Seems to me you'd want to draw the biggest crowd you can for the finals.

Also it now means someone is likely to get a cake walk in the opposite regional bracket. That's really unfair to the Bracken/Mason winner.

Money involved with qualifying for the regional is what is at stake. As long as you make it to the region you will get an equal cut, win or not. So if you are a weaker team that benefited from the draw and lose in the first round you are still getting a cut every night of the tournament. With funding being an issue at times for the smaller schools its a big incentive to have a draw. Regardless of how you will fair in the actual tournament.

Was this district seeded or a blind

I know this has been discussed before but please tell me again, Why on Earth is this a blind draw ???? I know different districts do things different ways but some have wrongly settled on the draw.... I know it gets the little guys a chance, but C'mon!

It takes more than one school to keep it a blind draw. And this is the 39th's choice. End of discussion. They don't need your opinion because they decide what works for them.

Why don't we do away with the weaker teams and just let the strongest teams play in region?

Why don't all you big dogs just kick the rest to the curb? I don't particularly like your elitist attitude. All these young people work hard year round, they should not be punished because they are small schools. If that's your theory, then forget the districts and regions all together and you all knowing ones just pick the 16 you want to play. In the 39th in past years Bracken would not have liked seeding. Each year it's a different school who would be left out. And this year's district is going to be real interesting. So run your own railroad and leave the 39th to decide for itself.

This is high school basketball for Pete's sake, who died and gave you the superior position to judge these young people? You act like this is the pros and by the way you criticize, I would bet that you are not a parent. Contrary to your opinion each district can make it's own decisions. And the parents of athletes from the small schools pay taxes the same as you do so why not give them a chance? Your idea of success may be Rupp Arena but to a small school, the Region is big time to them. So, once in a great while, give them a chance.

I have traveled around to many high school games over the past few years and the attendance at games is very, very disappointing- until I get to the smaller schools such as the bracken, augusta, robertson, bath, menifee games and those folks love their basketball whether the teams are competitive or not. From a economic standpoint and to put butts in the seats, the entire state ought to seed for these upcoming post season tournaments. Alot of the districts already do, but the ones that dont should! Just my two cents worth....
