Final from Union

Not the same Cooper team without McNeil. But good win for Cooper!

Newport just took Male to the wire. Really nice win for Cooper.

Did Hollis play?

Agreed. I look forward to seeing how strong they could be once he returns.

Did Hollis play?

Why wouldn't he? Injured?

Did Hollis play?

No he did not.

No he did not.

Why was he out?

Kunkel with 26 on 9 FGs (5 3's). Big time game. Kids continue to step up while McNeil is out. If they don't step back when he returns Cooper could win the 9th region.

Kid has had a strong year.

Kam Covington didn't play either...strong showing by Newport without two starters.

While I agree I credit the rest of the Cooper team for stepping up their game in the absence of their leading scorer and one of their best players. Making up 18pts and 8 Rebounds a game is no easy feat but other players have clearly stepped up their games. They've gone 4-0 since McNeil went down against 3 strong opponents.

Hopefully they keep it going and when McNeil returns it should be a bonus and the chemistry can keep going and make them stronger.

EDIT

Kunkle has really filled the shoes of McNeil in his absence. Strong player and a joy to watch.

Kunkel and CJ Fredrick are the two most pleasant surprises in the 9th to me this year. Both have so much more to their game than people expected in October. They are going to be so much fun to watch the next two years, next year in supporting roles to Sean and Cole, the year after as THE men.
