3A 2006 BGP rankings

Featured Replies

It is nothing personal against anyone from Southwestern. Bullitt East is NEVER ranked in the preseason top 10 and Southwestern usually is. When you look at what the 2 teams have accomplished, how can this be? It baffles me that a team that went 7-5 and has lots of question marks on both the offensive and defensive lines can be ranked in the top 10 over teams that had better records, and/or have more returning talent.

Granted it was only a scrimmage but PSW started off very strong.

Ammons is a fine player, and Franklin County is a team to watch, but they were hammered by the two top-10 teams they played last year, Lexington Catholic (62-28) and Highlands (61-14).

Obviously, the Flyers have some progress to make before they crack the top 10.

Lexington Catholic and Highlands make a habit of doing that to opposing teams. They were part of that cream of the crop last season. Big difference in the first 5 and the second 5 last season. Just my opinion though.

I'll wait for the Boyle County game, that will be the barometer for PSW. They played Boyle close last year, let us see if that trend continues. I don't think it will.

In all honesty, I think that trend will end. Atleast this season. I have heard alot of good things coming out of Boyle co. They really have a chip on their shoulder it seems.

I expect Boyle County to be very good as well. I think they will represent the region in the semifinals. That being said, if Southwestern could manage to beat them, it would finally give SW some legitamacy. Or if SW could actually make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs. Until they can accomplish one of those things, they have no business in a preseason top 10 poll. I don't care how much talent they supposedly have.

Fair enough -- what game(s) is/are the barometer for your Bullitt East team? The Central game on 9/8/06? Who else?

I wish SW wasn't ranked in anything. I think it has quite a bit to do with respect. Granted, Bullitt East earned alot of respect last year. But to get on a message board and blow smoke about a PRE-season poll, get over it. It is what it is. A PRE-SEASON poll. The only thing that matters, are the last two standing teams the first Friday/Saturday in December.

That being said.....SW looked pretty good against Dunbar last night. Still have a LONG way to go, but nice first scrimmage. Looking forward to the season! Football is in the air!!

This thread was started by someone looking for comments on the preseason poll. Go back and read the first post!:fight:

It was the 2nd post that caught my eye. You said it was ridiculous for SW to be at 10. I'm not looking for a :fight: , but you need to chill out. The season hasn't even officially started yet, and already you're talking smack. Maybe if Bullitt East was ranked Number 1, you wouldn't be foaming at the mouth.
