While at the Campbell practices this week, spoke to Coach Styer and later was able to talk w/ people very involved with Campbell County. There is a fact vs. fiction issue that Mr. Green and many Brossart people need to know. Seems that 2 years ago the BB football planners got with CC AD and super. The question was asked if it was "possible" to use A field for a couple of JV games. The fields in question was the practice fields at Campbell high school. That was it.

 

Recently, BB announced its program but also announced dollar amounts to use the field at Campbell. Seems the Brossart planners ran to super and explained it away as mistake, nothing really to it, etc. and they (brossart) do not even know if it was going to happen just yet.

 

Turns out that is the full extent of the BB effort to use Campbell County. It was pointed out on here there are already conflicting dates. Seems BGGreen and Mustang (on his site) are trying to make Campbell out as the bad guys and paint it as if there is a big problem. As stated to me by someone very, very close to Campbell operations - Brossart committee was given a form to fill out for request of the field, over a year ago. Seems they never have bothered to turn it in! If this is true, the access of the field is not really a question because it was never requested!

I'm not at all out to make CCo bad guys. If you read deep into any post that I have made on the subject, you will see that I cite some thoughts on why CCo might be reluctant to allow BB the use of their facilities (basketball or football), but always clearly state that this whole issue could be a simple matter of attempting to maintain the natural turf as best they can at Bob Miller Stadium.

 

If we were fielding a varsity program I think that we would probably try to work out the issue and play our games there. Since we are strictly playing JV games, I'm sure that we can find another suitable venue that will serve our purpose.

 

If anything I have tried to be the "voice of reason" in all of this. I have nothing to do with our football program other than to report on it.

 

At any rate it is a closed subject as far as I am concerned. We will not play our games at Bob Miller Stadium this year and I will leave it up to our administration to work out any arrangements with the CCo administration for any possible use in the future.

Well said Mustang, and as always a voice of reason in the midst of inaccuracy!! I think this has become much ado, over little; as often is the case. My only wish here is that I be criticized accurately!! I've never said this was a Campbell problem or anything to that effect on this or any other venue; and have in fact gone out of my way to be careful of my comments on the topic, so that they aren't construed that way. I'll take responsibility for a bit of a sarcastic statement early in this thread ".......should make many in Claryville proud", etc.; but that was merely in response to a flood of statements that BB wouldn't be playing their games at BM stadium, from some of the Camel faithful when the Mustang program was announced--before anyone had mentioned a schedule, coach, opponents, etc., much less a playing field option!!

I've heard nothing to substantiate this rumor either, but haven't been around the day-to-day activities. I believe he's been away from practice some, tending to some family matters, but haven't heard anything about not returning. Maybe Mustang can bring us up-to-date?

I would assume that this is related to the tragic events in the coaches life recently. Too bad, He and the Mustangs have my condolences. In the long run, I am sure that both BB and Coach Carver will rebound from this just fine. Good luck to you both.
