We lost 3 of 4 to NDA. They played 20 minute running games. Score was not kept on board so I'm not sure of exact scores but first one was about 26 - 19, second game wasn't very close, third was very tight maybe 25 - 22, NDA and NCC took 4th game by about 6 or so.

KHSAA rules does not allow scores to be kept during scrimmages. No one should have any scores to report. NDA/NCC scores are inaccurate. The scores were up in the 40 point range because they were 20 minute games. The referees stop play after every 20 minutes. There were five 20 minute games and NDA dominated the first four. Someone in the stands keeping score said NCC took the last game 42-40.

A report from a Holy Cross fan said they were expecting more from St. Henry. Level of team play definitely way down from last year's team. Only two players stood out (Niemer and another tall outside hitter).

How did they look? I am curious about Notre Dame's offense. Also, how did the sophomores from NCC look?

 

When NDA had their starters in their offense looked good. Nicole Staverman is a force on the left side. Rachel Gadberry will be tough in the middle. Caroline Miller and Becky Sebastian also played well. NDA played deep into their bench using all 12 players on the squad. NCC does not have a lot of guns in the front row.

 

Kaela Freppon played awesome and definitely stood out on the court. Unfortunately, up against better teams she won't be able to do it all on her own. (Sometimes she does though ) Kudos to Kaela, she picks up any bad pass and puts it in hitting range.

Actually, I believe there were four 20 minute periods with the third having a brief break halfway through. As stated the scores are estimates because both teams, wanting to abide by the KHSAA rules, didn't keep score. I can't imagine that 80 total points were scored during any of the 20 minute sessions. 4 points per minute would be a tough pace to keep up. Especially with some of the long rally points played, substitutions, bench instructions, etc...

Somebody better the tell the referees because they kept score at the Camels/Birds scrimmage tuesday night and the 1st game ended 25-19 with 5 minutes left to play and the same in the 2nd game....I'll go with what EQ thought they were and leave it at that.

Well, now that I know scores are not to be kept.......Beechwood's freshman team lost in two. Beechwood's JV won in 2 close games. Beechwood's varsity won easily in two. Second game, top player Lauren Snyder sat out due to shin splints, but the team didn't seem to need her for that game.

 

I have to agree with Doubleplay. Kaela Freppon is awesome. May be the best setter in Northern Kentucky, and she is only a Sophomore.

The Walton scrimmage had to be rescheduled. Walton is not air-conditioned and the Walton coach and AD felt it would be best to play at a later date. They will play on Monday evening 5pm-8pm.

What is the logic behind not keeping score in a scrimmage? Does the state think that would inhibit development?

Maybe it is just to encourage longer BGP threads....
