Mason was on FIRE!!! Awesome performance by this young man! Congrats to him on this accomplishment and the Eagle team on the victory. They are playing very well right now.

Final score was Johnson Central 92, Belfry 73.

Just got home. One of the most incredible performances Ive ever seen. Belfry ran every defense you could think of at him and it didnt matter (and Belfry has some very good athletes). Mason played some in the 4th Q but not that much. He also had 2 ast in the 1st Q as well.

 

At half time Mason had 36 points and 2 ast. Belfry had 33 total points.

 

In the game for JC Cole Crace had 16 points and 8 ast, 4 rbs, 2 stls: Tyler Pack had 13 pts 10 rbs, 1 blk, 1 stl.

Ive seen many 20 point quarters. Ive played against and seen great players over the years. I have never seen a 30 point quarter at the high school level in just 8 minutes of play and Mason hit the mark well before the end of the 1st. Score at the end of the 1st Q JC 39 Belfry 15. I dont think Whitney Creech has had a 30 point quarter, Dont see Ervin Stepp or King Kelly Coleman in the official record book (khsaa web site) with one, etc.

 

Does anyone else know of a 30 point quarter in high school basketball? Outside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson (12 min quarters) in the NBA (to go along with a few more doing it throughout the years), Wilt scoring 31 in the 4th during his 100 point game, and the college kid who had several 100 point games a few years back I can only think of Cherly Miller and Dajuan Waggner doing it when they had 100 point games.

Should also note that Mason set the school record for points in a quarter (30: record previously held by Jamie McCarty with 22 vs. Sheldon Clark 12-8-06) and points in a half (36: record previously held by Jamie McCarty with 32 vs. Sheldon Clark 12-8-06).

 

Had Mason wanted to be selfish and take more shots, he might have honestly scored 70 tonight with the way he had it going.

That is an awesome accomplishment for Mason Blair. One he can tell the Grandkids one day while shooting hoops in the backyard. Congrats young man.

Awesome performance! In first quarter makes it that much more impressive (not a bunch of garbage buckets in an overmatched blowout).

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how that can happen in an 8-minute quarter. Incredible. Baffling. All at once.

I witnessed the Timmy Cooper 29 point outburst for Pendleton (now 4th on the KHSAA list) and it was incredible.
