LIT Tournament Analysis

Featured Replies

Based on the LIT tournament that was released yesterday there appears to be Winners and Losers in the draw. Initial thoughts:

http://http://usatodayhss.com/2016/pairings-set-for-girls-lit-at-bellarmine-cal

Winners

1 Butler - Will avoid any ranked teams until the Semis

2 Ranked teams that will avoid Etown until the finals - Butler, Mercer Co, Manual and Sacred Heart

Losers

1 Assumption and Central - Will need to win 5 games in 5 days; all against teams ranked in the Top 15. Realize a long shot, but what a feat if it happened. Tougher draw than a team would get in the Sweet 16 this year

2 Mercy and Sacred Heart - Despite being in the Top 15 will not receive a bye and will play 5 games in 5 days to win tournament

3 Eastern/Mercy and Manual/Sacred Heart - Likely will need to beat four Top 15 teams to win the tournament

While the tournament will feature a number of top match ups, based on the current LIT pairings, it sets up nicely for Butler, Etown and Male to make it to the semis. The fourth semi participant is a toss up between Mercer Co, Manual and Sacred Heart.

Etown Etown Etown. Butler the only team with a chance to be competitive with them

Butler wasn't even competitive with them in Lexington. ETown may be better this year than last. Addition by subtraction?

Butler didn't play Etown well in Etown tournament either. I think the best chance to beat Etown will be Male.

And that is not going to happen

This should be an excellent LIT! A great way to spend several cold winter nights watching some fine teams.

I think the best chance to beat E'town is E'town. They win the LIT and the sweet 16 unless they implode.

The snow curse for the LIT seems to be upon us.

LIT is loaded this year.

Should be a fun tournament to witness this year. It's time for many of the teams to turn it up and make adjustments that prepares them for regionals.

We should get a better idea of the teams that the stock is going up and the teams where their stock is going down.

Be careful about that. Remember last year the same thing was being said about Etown bringing home the gold, and Holy Cross ended up taking home the hardware. That's why they play the game.

It's unfortunate there is not more talk about the LIT, team wise it looks to be better than the state tournament. Did anyone go?

Exactly, to many people think just because you have D-1 players on your team that means they can't be beat. Yes Etown was the best team last year but it doesn't guarantee championships at its been proven time and time again, you can't measure heart in a team so although Etown again is the best team in the state they will get everyone's best game so don't fall asleep or you will wake up with another disappointing loss.
