  1. With 6 of the top 10 coming out of Louisville perhaps the "Sweet 16" state tournament should just be changed to the LIT and invite the top 10 county schools. If the state tournament are the top teams in the state... 3 of the top 10 are from Region 7 and 2 of the top 10 from Region 6. Leaving out a Mercy because they haven't beat Butler, or Sacred Heart because they have not beaten a top 5 team is like having a bunch of mid-major schools in the NCAA tournament because an ACC team didn't win the ACC tournament. Not calling all of the county schools mid-majors and I know people don't want to see all these teams from Louisville in the Sweet 16, but if they are the best teams in the state... Long story short, anybody can be beaten at anytime, i.e. Mercy over Butler...
  2. I was going to go to this game because I thought it would be a good game. I would like to know how that was done... I still believe that it is wide open. Butler came out flat against Eastern and they were definitely not rolling on all cylinders then. After watching what Mercy did to E-town and seeing this score and Butlers loss to Eastern. Wide Open...
  3. KHSAA should be concerned. Really? Come on man... Unfair advantage? The church league has tryouts and coaches pick the best players.
  4. Short version. No rules broken, no bribes, no special treatment. Just people trying to make the best decisions for their children
  5. OMG. Gotta find this box score and see the stats. This is ...
  6. Butler didn't play Etown well in Etown tournament either. I think the best chance to beat Etown will be Male.
  7. Surprising to me because I think that SHA coach is pretty good. I did see a few mistakes in the Eastern game which cost them as well. But we can all point mistakes of everyone or this wouldn't be any fun. Hard to score inside against Manual. Blackford as long as she keeps progressing, is gong to be a big time player.
  8. After watching a good amount of basketball over the past few months, years, days. I have seen some good ball being played by a lot of teams. 1. E-town is a very good team. Understatement. They will be hard to beat. I only question their depth at scoring. Without looking at riherds, where will scoring come from without Boley, Stinson and the other guard? Again, very good team. 2. Butler, Penn is freaking athletic! They have bigs that can change/block shots, good ball handling from the starting guard and Penn. Then I have noticed a drop off. Noticed at the Lexington Catholic tournament that they got tired quickly. Apparently that was a larger court in the main gym. Have to keep an eye on it in the LIT. If Penn's shot is falling, they can beat anyone in the state. 3. Bowing Green is a very fundamentally sound team that will get up and down the court. They have a forward that has a nice mid-range game. Several pull ups. Nice and smooth. OT is an undersized big but could cause some match-up problems for typical bigs. But she can defend the post just so long as she continues to work hard and does not get into foul trouble. They will keep fresh legs in the game and you just have to keep up... 4. Manual has a one two punch that is deadly. McCune and Johnson. Johnson will get her shot off. Very difficult to stop that. McCune will clean up anything around the glass, several times and plays physical. Curry is an excellent defender who can score and shows great leadership with younger players. They have bigs that will come off the bench and maintain the defensive pressure as McCune just not as much go to scoring. They have a lot of ball handlers that can handle pressure. Would be interesting to see if Johnson is not hitting and if someone can guard McCune one on one, where scoring would come from. Seems as if Curry role has changed on the team. Wonder what she is averaging? 5. Male Big, Big, Big. Those aside, when Kidja (sorry for misspelling) can get to the basket the way she does and Sexton is allowed to step into her jump shot. Don't see anyone beating them in the half court. They defend the basket well and can run the court. They have a good bench too. Gonna stop at the top 5. Might do the rest later.
  9. It's nice that everyone can voice their opinions with the mask of anonymity, just seems to me like people talking behind others back. So here we go. We live in J-town's district and my daughter played there her 7th and 8th grade year. There was a different coach each year. Was J-town an option for us when it came time to pick a school, yes. Our first option was Manual, obviously we didn't get in. Which was surprising to me since she has been an A/B student since 3rd grade. So now we are scrambling to find a good school for my daughter. In my mind, as probably for most fathers of athletes, she is a stand out player. So that was part of the decision making. Along with academics and my daughters preferences as well. I asked everyone that would have a conversation with me, what would be the difference between an A at J-town or an A at Eastern or Mercy or Manual. I heard a lot of different opinions but ultimately J-town came off our list. It came down between 2 schools, Mercy and Eastern. We had done several workouts with Eastern's coach and had a friendly relationship with him. We all know Mercy's system and how successful they are at it. We chose Eastern because my daughter thought she fit in better there and would be more comfortable. Mercy was not in our budget. I've told everyone that I never would have thought that my daughter would go to Eastern because she has played with 2 of the girls for the past 3 years of middle school, I was wrong. I never thought she would start as a freshman. I still believe that Eastern, if they pull together, can win a state championship. I do question our decision on picking Eastern, but who has never questioned a decision they made. She is the one that would be spending "the best 4 years of her life" at the school so she had major influence on picking the school. Hindsight is truly 20/20, so telling someone to beware is ludicrous. How is someone to know what is a good fit for them unless they get in there and see? There is no dating period for finding a high school, if there is maybe someone should have informed us. She will continue to play hard the rest of the year and hopefully the team will pull it together. Then all of the anonymous post will be saying, woulda, coulda, shoulda... What child does not want to go where the good team is? Who is the last person that said, that team sucks, that's where I'm gong to school? AAU had no influence on what school we chose. If your child has the opportunity to play up and against better competition, why wouldn't you do it? That is the only way to get better and see what you are made of. Karma? Not if someone is better than you or you have not progressed as a player over the summer. It used to be the best players played. Well that was more than I had planned to say. Excuse my rant. Good luck to your schools and children. GO EAGLES! AND GO KIARA PEARL!!! My baby girl.
  10. It looks like the team is not together. So that would definitely be from internal issues. Hopefully they can get it together, there is a lot of talent on that team. With just one ball, if they learned to play together for a common goal, they would be deadly. Pearl did play, but didn't touch the court in the 2nd half. No too sure why. Ineffective in the 1st half perhaps.
  11. Eastern defense forced some bad shots too. From their best player. Gonna be a tough go at it in Lexington. In 7 games they had 5 different leading scorers. The depth is real!
  12. If this is decided at the free throw line, Sacred Heart will win. Be interesting to see how the game is called early. That will have an impact on Eastern's trapping defense.
