BigVMan23 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Trinity races yo huge lead at half but got sloppy and outplayed in 2nd half. LC cut lead to 7 after being down 30.
thepeopleschamp Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Trinity is a decent team but if they are Kentuckys best then there are no great teams this year.
UKfan1977 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Trinity 12-16 from Three in the First Half.
Rez Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Trinity is a decent team but if they are Kentuckys best then there are no great teams this year. This is true. I think it'll make for an exciting post season.

HoopJunkie Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I said before this season even started that basketball is down overall in KY this year. Would you say it's down? Or is the talent just more spread out? It seems like we have a lot of kids in the 16, 17, and 18 class that are garnering D1 interest

I do believe the talent is more spread out amongst a lot of players. Haven't seen everyone yet. That dominant team might be out there. Trinity does a lot of things well but there are certain teams that are a stylistic nightmare. Their guard play and press break is sub par. A team like Central or a full strength Bryan Station would be problematic for them.
KYBleacherButt Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Trinity emptied its bench to start the second half. I don't know their exact rotation but I'm pretty sure it wasn't even their second team, closer to the last guys on the bench. A few minutes into the second have Lawrence Co put together a run. Slowly Trinity put their starters back in the game. By that time though Lawrence Co had momentum and I think cut it to as low as 8. I'll credit Lawrence Co for not giving up but I don't think it gets below 20 if the starters actually started the second half. I do plan to watch Lawrence Co tomorrow, they are a very fun team to watch. They have plenty of guys that can score. They just ran into a buzzsaw in the first half today.
THS2011 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 ^^ Played freshman almost all of the 3rd quarter and had to reinsert the starters to finish the job.
BigVMan23 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Was really never a game. I disagree with this. LC hit two free throws with around 3 minutes left (give or take a few seconds) to cut the lead down to 7 after being down 30. They made it a MUCH closer game than Trinity wanted, especially after being up 30 points, and COMPLEATLY outplayed Trinity the 2nd half, and that includes the starters after they came back in in the 3rd quarter. Now, I won't say that Trinity was ever in danger of losing the game, I mean it's hard for anybody to claw back from 30 down and actually come back to win, but I will say LC gave Trinity ALL they wanted in the 2nd half, plus some.
BigVMan23 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 ^^ Played freshman almost all of the 3rd quarter and had to reinsert the starters to finish the job. I don't know their rotation or players, but I don't think the jv/freshman played they whole 3rd quarter as I saw the starters reinserted in the 3rd after LC made a run to start the quarter. Personally I think that was a coaching mistake. I would have started my starters, challenged them to be up by 40 at the end of the 3rd quarter, then played my bench the whole 4th quarter assuming they met the challenge, or was close anyway. As someone said above, step on their neck when you have them down like that. It's not like they were playing some 7th region bottom feeder that couldn't defend themselves, they were playing one of the better teams in the state and the favorite to win the 15th region. Step on their neck and finish them off. If they ever meet again this year, now LC has hope and they believe they can play with them.
THS2011 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I think the reasoning was what I thought was why Trinity didn't finish off Brentwood in the KOB. They were tired and Trinity wanted to rest the starters the rest of the game. Now you can't possibly think a team could come back from 30 down but they almost did. The freshmen team that was in had around 15 turnovers in the time they were in the 3rd quarter. I was hoping they could get the job done but it ended up not being the case and no rest ended up being given.

Last year when Boyle County and Trinity played on day 5 of the tournament both teams were running on fumes and neither team played with much energy.
