Cooper 46 Holmes 44

Cov. Cath will be there in the mix. They've been proven winners the last 3-5 yrs. I would give them the edge bcos of experience and a winning culture. But they dont play games on paper. It sounds like Holy Cross has a nice team this year and Cooper has already beat them. New. Cath has arguably the best player in Weyer and Holmes has McClendon who can carry a team. Let's all enjoy this unpredictable yr in the 9th region. I would love to come up and watch a few good gamesin this region these next few months. Any suggestions from those of you who've seen these teams?

Come to the Finn ( Holy Cross ) on I beleive January 9 th for Holmes, Holy Cross, but get there at 5:30 if you want a seat, or catch the Cov Cath, HC game , but once again get some pop corn and a pop and watch the jv game or you won't get in.

Would love too but Im going to Frankfort that day to watch the Indy/ Kentucky classic. New albany vs Lex Dunbar/ Forrest Park vs Owen County/ and Jay County vs Cooper. I believe Jan 12 Cov Cath plays @ Holy Cross. I will probably try and make that game.

I'm confused for some reason no one is giving HC the credit they deserve... HC hadn't lost a game to anyone in the 9th. They are playing the best defense of anyone in the 9th an if I'm not mistaken they are the most experienced team in the region with their top 6 players being seniors.

Actually, NCC's, Dixie's and Beechwood's defenses are ranked higher state-wise so I guess it depends what you mean by "in the 9th" -- here are the numbers from http://khsaa.org/basketball/regularseason/2015/statsbit.htm:

Meaningless way to grade Ds at the high school level and without a shot clock.

I'll buy that but I don't know how better to judge them. What would your criteria be and how would you rank 9th Region defenses at this point?

Good Lord, has this thread veered off course or what?

My bad. Maybe worth a separate thread, but cancel my order for now.

Can't rank them as I would need to see all multiple times.

Eyeball test.

Wasn't getting on you, you just happened to be the last to post before my comment.

There is no clear cut #1 team in the 9th. It's funny how the Cooper win over CCH gets discredited with "it was the first game of the year".

You haven't seen me say that one time. Not once. That was a thorough and complete Cooper win, and the game really wasn't as close as the score.

The only funny thing to me is go back and read the prediction thread for that game and it is Cooper people planting the seeds about "it is only the first game of the year", as if they were expecting to get beat. Cooper was great that night and absolutely deserved that win.

Oh, and the superior coaching stuff comes from Scott taking two teams to the State Final Four, and one winning the Championship, in the last two years. Neither team was blessed with a bevy of D1 players, so I assume it comes from that. However, again, I (the only CovCath person I can speak for) have been as pro-Sully and as complementary of him as anyone on this site.
