The growing right-wing terror threat

THIS month, the headlines were about a Muslim man in Boston who was accused of threatening police officers with a knife. Last month, two Muslims attacked an anti-Islamic conference in Garland, Tex. The month before, a Muslim man was charged with plotting to drive a truck bomb onto a military installation in Kansas. If you keep up with the news, you know that a small but steady stream of American Muslims, radicalized by overseas extremists, are engaging in violence here in the United States.

But headlines can mislead. The main terrorist threat in the United States is not from violent Muslim extremists, but from right-wing extremists. Just ask the police.

In a survey we conducted with the Police Executive Research Forum last year of 382 law enforcement agencies, 74 percent reported anti-government extremism as one of the top three terrorist threats in their jurisdiction; 39 percent listed extremism connected with Al Qaeda or like-minded terrorist organizations. And only 3 percent identified the threat from Muslim extremists as severe, compared with 7 percent for anti-government and other forms of extremism.

Police are fully aware of the threat of anti-government militia types. They probably are the single biggest threat as a group to LE in this country. The Sovereign Citizen group as well as some Extreme Tea Party and are a huge threat and problem for Law Enforcement. For the most part they haven't been much of a threat to citizens but are as stated a huge threat to LE any time they come in contact with them.

But it's not just the right...A couple of groups on the far left have emerged also, the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front has emerged as a serious terrorist threat. The FBI estimates that ALF/ELF have committed approximately 600 criminal acts in the United States since 1996, resulting in damages in excess of 42 million dollars.

The article that you attached was written in June of 2015 while according to your article the survey of the Police Executive Research Forum was conducted sometime in 2014. This survey would be 1 to 2 years old. Given the flurry of current events anyone who doesn't understand that Radical Islam is currently the greatest threat to American citizens is a fool! I'm sure this was an oversight by the OP and not a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the situation.

Nobody's been commenting of late on right-wing extremist Robert Lewis Dear, the Planned Parenthood shooter in Colorado Springs. Guess he's old news.

Well, there were those two radical Muslim jihadists that did some killing in San Bernadino after him.

Just sayin...........

I don't doubt the anti government terror threat at all. We are under attack from any number of threats.

All the more reason to tighten our borders, thus reducing at least one area of danger so we can concentrate more on internal threats.

Don't use logic when arguing about terrorism. Find some biased left or right wing rhetoric.
