What some people don't realize is that the super has very little if any influence over hiring at the building level. So when a teacher or coach becomes mad or upset with administration, there is not much that can be done. I would be like ballerm and tell people to get involved and work to make things better. I don't know about the history that old teacher is sharing, and it is probably true. Who cares, if you are going to get better you better start living in the future and forget about the past. Life is too short, and besides i have to get back and see if we hired a new Coach.

 

I agree, except in this case I see Campbell County repeating the same old steps and the same old names. For a bit, Campbell was looking ahead but it was the same old names making waves. Look, for a time it is easy to ignore the past until the current and future leave. Being retired it is silly to me to see the likes of Jones, who actually dislikes parents with a passion back at a school he made fun about just a few years ago while at Newport. As for the super, I know enough to say the super deals with the principal so he is in a position to do something about it and that must not be the case at Campbell.

I don't think the name calling is necessary, but here is my take from the outside looking in:

 

I do feel that there are a couple of people that were removed from certain positions when the changes were made, that are still present in the high school or the community that hold Campbell back from progress. It seems like some people would like for Campbell to stay the way it has always been:confused: , therefore resisting changes made by new faces!

Then there are other groups of people that want to make Campbell better than it has been in the past (Which is the attitude I believe everybody should have)! They are trying to raise the bar for the kids!

Lastly, there seems to be an administration that I'm sure wants to be successful in athletics, but doesn't have a clue what it takes to get there!!!

 

I believe that super that 92Birds keeps raving about needs to get everybody in the same boat!!! This should have happened after the first coach left, but evidently it did not because they lost a great young AD in Roberts!!!

This may be correct, but did anybody ask Roberts if there were other reasons for leaving, Like more MONEY!! You hear everyone talk about teachers going across the river, how about AD positions?

I see where he leaving to take the Lebanon (Oh) position - any thoughts as to who may be next?

I do not see anyone getting off the topic of this thread. The issue that is facing campbell county right now is who will come in and pick up the pieces that have been started by joe roberts, that is all. Everyone in this post has directed to this except the small segment about brossart football and the use of the field at cc, but even then, a small point has been made. It seems that joe helped bridge the gap for issues such as this and he understood what it means to the community to work together. It is obivious that the high school administration and some of the coaches (and if you listen to 92Bird, one coach), did not support this idea and would rather keep it the way it has always been. From reading what is being said, there is just a plain lack of support for athletics at the high school level. I stated in a previous post that I thanked joe for getting the youth football program up and running for the kids and I was serious about that, my child played last year in the league and yes it was new and rough around the edges, but the kids had fun and we have already signed him up for next year. I remember the night we got to play the game at the middle school under the lights, mr. sandlin from the middle school was there and helped add a since of support for joe in the efforts of the programs. if this type of feeling would be spread in the schools, everyone would be successful. from what I am reading, that will not be the case unless someone gets ahold of the situation and if it does not change, I will for my kids. I am sure I can find a high school that will take my kids, maybe even Lebanon.

I believe if we really want to get to the bottom of this we need to start at the top. I am an objective bystander from another district but happen to know all the players in this ordeal. The idea of a district wide athletic director is a very good approach with good future ramifications. The superintendent is very much involved in this forward thinking. However, the current school board cannot seem to get on the same page. If you ever look at their minutes you will see many 3-2 votes. The normal protocol is to get consensus and try to get everyone to agree. However, some of these same board members have petty differences and still side with some of the old guard. These people should not run for the board unless they can be objective on all matters. What they need to worry about is what is best for the kids and nothing else.

The current administration at the High School is part of the problem. They along with some of these same board members decided they needed an on site AD. Joe Roberts was not having any trouble handling the operation. However, to appease some of the old guard, principal, and board members a position was created for another older guard to return. Shouldn't the board be trying to cut expenses rather than add to them?

These problems are going to continue until the dead wait is cleaned out or leaves. Joe Roberts is a great young man who I respect greatly. Even though money could be a factor in his resignation, I know for a fact that he would have never left if these petty politics did not exist.

I implore the superintendent to work toward some amiable solution before CCHS's reputation and tradition is tarnished beyond repair.

I would strongly suggest that if you disagree with something a moderator has said in regards to his moderator duties, that you send him a PM to let him know how you feel. Posting your objections in a thread is a violation of rule 12 which can result in a quick trip to the sidelines. Please read the BGP rules.

 

As far as this whole thread goes, I don't know the situation at CCHS. But I am pretty disgusted with some of the posts that have been made in this thread. Some of you should think about what you're posting before you hit the submit button. I would guess that a few of you wouldn't be saying some of the things you are saying if you didn't have a username to hide behind. Please keep in mind that some of the nastier comments are being made about a school where many of our young students still attend. While you may not respect certain authority figures, maybe it would be better not to share your venom.
