I assume you are referring to the Taxpayers of Campbell County's facilities, not yours?? I'm going to guess that includes Brossart's parent and student populations as well as CCHS's!!

You really do not want to get into this here do you? If you choose to not take advantage of the free education provided by the state then that is your choice. But realize that you will pay for school taxes like people do that do not have any children. But then do not expect to have free access to the facilities. Part of what funds the facilities at the public schools is the state allocation per student and if you choose to not send your child to public schools and still use the facilities, the school has not received that child's allocation which funds such facilities or programs. We would love to have your children at the public school. More state allocations per students would help us maintain the facilities and programs we have. But then that is what makes America.....the ability to choose. AMERICA IS GOOD!

I think there's been plenty of public/private debate and it certainly doesn't need to continue here!! Merely pointing out that just because you are a fan, alumni, student, etc. of a given public school system; you don't own their facilities and have control of who they do or don't agree to rent those facilities to!! I believe that's what a school board and athletic administration are for. Elect the right ones and they should follow the will of their populace!! :D

Again if you members want to start a thread about the use of the facilities please do so.Now can we get it back to the main topic.

Sorry to see Joe leave. He seemed to have several of the programs headed in the right direction, and was obviously well respected by his peers. Another big loss for the Camels' athletic programs. Hopefully they can find a good replacement and then give him the latitude to do his job!! Best of luck to he and his family in Lebanon--That's quite a growing area!!

I don't think the name calling is necessary, but here is my take from the outside looking in:

I do feel that there are a couple of people that were removed from certain positions when the changes were made, that are still present in the high school or the community that hold Campbell back from progress. It seems like some people would like for Campbell to stay the way it has always been:confused: , therefore resisting changes made by new faces!

Then there are other groups of people that want to make Campbell better than it has been in the past (Which is the attitude I believe everybody should have)! They are trying to raise the bar for the kids!

Lastly, there seems to be an administration that I'm sure wants to be successful in athletics, but doesn't have a clue what it takes to get there!!!

I believe that super that 92Birds keeps raving about needs to get everybody in the same boat!!! This should have happened after the first coach left, but evidently it did not because they lost a great young AD in Roberts!!!

Joe was not fired, he left on his own terms. This all sounds like the posts from two years ago when coach schlarman left. The high school administration does not want to see the athletic program to succeed because of the bitterness that still exists when all the changes occured. I just do not understand, maybe it is because I am new to the area and I want to raise my family here and I want my kids to go to Campbell County Schools. How can you not support athletics? I have not found a CATS Test discussion web site yet? I agree with the previous post in the fact that reitz and heringer are strong coaches and they care about the programs, but aren't they apart of the new changes as well? What will we do next? Is it just safe to say that Campbell County does not want any outsiders to move here and raise families? Just leave it the way it has always been?

I have only had the opportunity to speak with Joe in passing or at events, (since he was always around). He never showed any emotions of regret for being here, I will miss seeing the energy that he gave to the programs, for those out there that do not like him, that is and was a shame you would not give him a chance, he would have taken the athletic department into a direction that quite frankly we may never see, what a sad thought to lay on the minds of the leaders of our school district, what could have been. As I still fairly new to the area, I can only hope that the administration will start to show some interest and help make the transition for the new athletic director better than what it was for Joe.

Joe, if you read this, you may not even know me, but thank you for getting the youth football program started and for the support you have shown to all of the students of Campbell County. Best of luck at Lebanon!

Did Joe leave or was he fired? If he left because of politics then personal attacks need to stop.

If that's the case they are in trouble, because the area is about to explode with the new sewer plant opening; which will allow the development which has been stifled to continue. Wake up guys, the growth is coming!!

Nobody should have to put up with the stuff Joe Roberts put up with. From literally being called names by one of the high school principals (who does not even have the deceny to say sorry), to being lied, ignored to his face from the very same group he is suppose to work with. If anyone knows Joe well may not even know this is not his first job offer. Lebannon came calling to him. They were not the first, there were many others prior to this. What do these other places see that Campbell County cannot? One of these offers came from a school whose athletic programs exceed the best in NorKY! They wanted Mr. Roberts and he turned it down. After awhile the abuse and rude and unacceptable treatment becomes too much. What can Campbell County not see, looking down that narrow tunnel makes even good and great things hard to know about.

Then send them to public school since you've already paid for it.[/QUOTE]

Listening to the Camel faithful on here, do you really have to ask????

From my position on the outside (thankfully) looking in, it would seem a classic case "of a few bad apples"; but they must be rather influential bad apples. Again, as an observer, I think there's a lot of concerned, involved parents out there; that maybe need to exert themselves a little more forcefully, and they may be able to turn things around!!

Are you familiar with tenure? :D

Like I said I graduated from CCHS and when I have kids I seriously doubt they will go there like I, My Mom and Dad, and all four of my grandparents did.

This kind of stuff happens all over the state, NO school is immune to that type of stuff, sad, but very true!

If the super is as good as you say he is, then why has he allowed this nonsense to continue that may have driven out the AD or the FB coach?

I have none your super for over 15 years and proud to say he was an extremely active teacher, community member, and faithful supporter of athletic programs while working at PCHS. He caried that same interest with him as he became your principal.

What some people don't realize is that the super has very little if any influence over hiring at the building level. So when a teacher or coach becomes mad or upset with administration, there is not much that can be done. I would be like ballerm and tell people to get involved and work to make things better. I don't know about the history that old teacher is sharing, and it is probably true. Who cares, if you are going to get better you better start living in the future and forget about the past. Life is too short, and besides i have to get back and see if we hired a new Coach.

I really like Superintendent Anthony Strong and consider he too to be a personal friend.

He genuinely seems interested in making progress in athletics, academics, drama, band, and etc., etc., etc.,. I did an interview with him at halftime of last years broadcast of the Simon Kenton (or Scott) game and he couldn't be happier for the direction of Campbell County Schools and Joe's involvement in starting the Junior High Football Program.

Unless I completely misread the relationship, I think that he and Joe Roberts were very close, socially and professionally.

However, I guess the question is - If Superintendent Anthony Strong sees the undercurrents (I believe Joe was ousted from the High School to the District office) and understands that there are areas of lack of support, why didn't he take steps to rectify them.

I'm sure that Anthony hates to lose Joe. He is just the type of personable, outgoing, visible, effective A.D. that every school dreams of. The two were friends. I find it hard to believe that he allowed this to happen.

Knowing the type of person Anthony is, he has lots of friends, I can't see friendship getting in the way of him doing his job. Again from having been on a SBDM council myself, superintendent's don't have much control in staff issues when it comes to dealing with the school.
