I sometimes listen to right wing AM radio talking heads not because I agree with them, but just want to see what crap they're forcefully and angrily driving daily into the heads of those who do.

 

My bull crap filters are up, so their repetitive nonsense won't brainwash me if I hear it too much, but I want to stay on the pulse of what's being brainwashed into the mindset of those who buy it, sort of as a social defense mechanism technique on my part.

 

The endless lies are shamefully spinned, and relentlessly slanted, and it somehow surprises me how they aren't being held responsible for the falsehoods they perpetually purport, but the listeners take the info and run with it because they typically don't have the capacity to see through it, so they take it at face value.

 

I can spot a listener of this junk in a heartbeat, for example just standing in line at the market and Joe Blow starts trying to make political conversation out of the blue like he can't help himself (global warming, Barack Obama, gun control, Muslims, yadda yadda yadda), and I think inside that it's because he's full to the brim with the crap that's being pumped into his head on a daily basis, and it has nowhere else to go but to spill it out to others any chance that he can get. Typically they don't appear to be too intelligent, but with the info that they have jammed in their heads, they at least think that they are.

 

I'm more of a moderate with a slant to the left, but from my observation, more than not the loud mouth ones I come across in public that push their junk out of the blue into strangers faces tend to be coming from a more extreme right side.

 

By being ready for it, I can just ignore them and laugh it off, while having a pretty good idea of where it's coming from.

I guess my main question is, do you think its possible that there are some people on the right who have thought deeply about political issues and they legitimately believe that the right has good ideas? Is it possible that not all people on the right are brainwashed, close minded followers?

Most of the people who even bother to read the political threads already have a vested interest in one side or the other, so they have already taken a stand. I've always voted because I had a very patriotic Grandmother but it wasn't as serious for me until the national debt starting closing in on GDP numbers and also this terrorist dilemma. So possibly my Grandmother's strong feelings came from losing a brother in WWI and living through the depression. I don't try to convince anyone who has an opinion different from mine, but I also don't appreciate the disparaging names. I'm not a party line voter and I will consider a well stated opinion but not an insult.

In my post #4 I said that I have my bull crap filters up (which prevents me from being indoctrinated by the slanted info that I hear, that others might blindly take at face value).

 

My posts were not in reference to people having different views, but those who get their info solely from listening to AM Radio talk show hosts.

 

Yes...It's very possible that there are people on the right who are not brainwashed, closed minded followers.

In answer to the OP, it's because it is the one topic where we (you, me, anyone, everyone) are never wrong and cannot be persuaded to believe we (you, me, anyone, everyone) could possibly be wrong. Who doesn't like to be correct 100% of the time?

Y'know the type that can turn every topic political or blame Obama for everything imaginable?

Thanks for the offer but I don't need a flow chart, I read the post and took it as a criticism of folks on the right expressing their concerns, however I do admit some are over the top, which you are entitled to do. I just wanted to weigh in that I see, hear, and experience the same thing from folks on the left. I listen to AM radio so am I a loud mouthed character for listening to conservative programs and wanting to expound my views? Surely not. And it could be that "axe to grind" is because some folks are tired of certain policies they feel are affecting their everyday lives in a negative way. I'll tell you what though, if you strike up a political conversation with me, I'll tell you exactly how I feel. Hopefully in an adult manner.

Again, I'm referring to the extreme loud mouthed types who politicize in line with complete strangers unprovoked at Kroger etc...It's a little annoying whether or not they're right or even left, I just find it ignorant and classless of those type of people.

 

I'm not saying that everyone who listens to AM Raido is a loud mouth and runs out the door to tell the world what they think. If that's not you, then you're not who I'm talking about, and there's no need for you to take it personally.

 

I don't have a problem with people having various views, nor do I think that all on the right or the left are ignorant for having one.

 

It's about keeping it in perspective, and if humans engage in same or countering opinions with respect for one another, I'm all for it, but just not from loud mouth Joe Blow who I don't even know, nor was I inviting him to share with me what he thinks to begin with.

I'm not terribly familiar with many left sided AM Radio hosts, and honestly didn't know that there were any.

 

I typically drift off to sleep with Mark Levin screaming at me, and if I'm still awake Clyde Lewis at times seems to be sorta moderate.

 

The middle of the night trip to pee has me briefly hearing a little of George Noory talk about aliens (this is where I suppose the real subliminals are leaching into my mind), ...

 

and then I'll wake to local Cincy guy Brian Thomas who can at times make me laugh, but has a know it all right slant about him that is annoying and pompous.

 

I've heard Rush before and can't deal with him, and won't waste my waking hours on him.

 

Then there's a popular long standing Cincy guy named Bill Cunningham that gets on my last nerves that I don't bother with, but I have a couple of friends that are junked up on him.

 

There's a few other names that I'm familiar with but really have never heard them.

 

If there were any left slanted ones on in the day I probably wouldn't listen mostly because my waking radio hours are dedicated to jams.

 

To be fair I have a super left female friend that I take with a grain of salt because I'm not all that keen to always be hearing anti-right crap all the time either.

 

I assume that I'm mostly viewed by some as being a leftist, but really I'm pretty moderate. I have never had the juice in me to be extreme far left or right. There's really no talking to either extreme as they're pretty comparable to a brick wall.

I think we don't notice obnoxiousness as much when we agree with it. George Bush was blamed for many things he had no influence over, like the weather, and everyday the news carried a death toll of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The tally stopped when he left office. The hatred for anything Bush was served daily by the "news." You, may not have noticed this as much as you notice negative chatter about President Obama.

 

Obama said he would fundamentally change America. A lot of Americans don't like the change he is bringing. It is bound to result in griping by the general public.
