I think we don't notice obnoxiousness as much when we agree with it. George Bush was blamed for many things he had no influence over, like the weather, and everyday the news carried a death toll of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The tally stopped when he left office. The hatred for anything Bush was served daily by the "news." You, may not have noticed this as much as you notice negative chatter about President Obama.

 

Obama said he would fundamentally change America. A lot of Americans don't like the change he is bringing. It is bound to result in griping by the general public.

It seems that par for the course is that whoever is in office, the extreme followers of the opposing party come out of the woodwork to find fault with everything, and make their presence more known than the followers of the present party in office do.

 

If they didn't get their man (or woman) through the election, they will magnify things to make certain that people see that America got it wrong again at the polls.

 

If one agrees with the rhetoric it tends not to rub them the wrong way, but they consciously hear it more loudly if it does.

Again, I'm referring to the extreme loud mouthed types who politicize in line with complete strangers unprovoked at Kroger etc...It's a little annoying whether or not they're right or even left, I just find it ignorant and classless of those type of people.

 

I'm not saying that everyone who listens to AM Raido is a loud mouth and runs out the door to tell the world what they think. If that's not you, then you're not who I'm talking about, and there's no need for you to take it personally.

 

I don't have a problem with people having various views, nor do I think that all on the right or the left are ignorant for having one.

 

It's about keeping it in perspective, and if humans engage in same or countering opinions with respect for one another, I'm all for it, but just not from loud mouth Joe Blow who I don't even know, nor was I inviting him to share with me what he thinks to begin with.

In my opinion of your post that I read, you kind of took a roundabout shot at those on the right (which does include me), which is your prerogative to do so. You made a blanket statement about folks who listen to right leaning radio programs as the only folks who "in your experience" generally go off and I have experienced the same from folks who are on the opposite side. So I decided to respond, didn't think I took it personally or had a knee-jerk reaction. I agree with you about the "Joe Blow" offering political opinion that is unsolicited either left or right. But if anyone brings politics up either at a bar, in line at Kroger's or on a social site like this one, be prepared for folks to offer a rebuttal either right or left. Politics is personal and we apparently LOVE to argue about it.

Cunningham, he makes a lot of sense at times. However, he does have schtick which makes some folks not take him serious at times (he's an entertainer). I can see that.

I, as normal, used 1000 words to knock extreme Radio Talk shows and the gullible types that run with what they hear to chat it up with strangers, but honestly wasn't knocking every last person on the right. This too is not to say that all people who listen to Talk Radio are gullible. It's like every poodle is a dog, but not every dog is a poodle.

 

Because I went on in length it got taken by some right sided people here as a shot at them... not my intent.

 

Basically I'm referring more to extreme types of people, and within another one of my posts I also expressed that I have a far left friend who I can only take with a grain of salt because she's obsessed with being anti-right, and that annoys me as well.

 

By the time you got to me on it I was already beginning to get a little drained from explaining to others that I was more or less zeroing in on a certain type, and not everyone in the country with a right view, and trying to explain that I don't take issue with variances of views, as it's a part of human nature.

 

To be truthful my specific leanings are that I don't much care to talk politics and try to escape it, but Joe Blow likes to encourage it. I've been in bar settings where I've had to tell others that I was out for a good time and talking politics was not my idea of a good time, and that they should take the conversation to someone else more inclined to chime along with them.

 

The theme mostly throughout my posts in this thread were not to shed any light on my personal political views, yet to paint a picture of how annoying some extreme others can be with either passing along slanted info, and others not having the sense to contain themselves when around the general public.

 

If you felt any sarcasm from me in my responses to you, my apologies, but it's because by the time you got to me I was already burnt out on the topic from explaining and re-explainging myself to others.

I mean, let's face it, we can't stand most of the political players. Congress is lucky to have a double-digit approval rating. Most every election, most of us is forced to vote for the lesser of two evils. for goodness sakes, look at the KY governor's race? Not very many people liked either one of the two guys it came down to. Same thing at the national level. Yet, I will turn on the tube every evening and watch five or six hours of political talk and spin. I'll do the same thing every night.

 

What is our fascination for politics and politicians, who many of us distrust and clearly have mostly contempt for?

BUT the left wing talk shows do the same thing, endless lies and brainwashing.

I mean who the heck in their right mind would believe or vote for Hillary, anyone knows down deep how bad and crooked she is. Either people are brainwashed or just ignorant.

 

After a lot of consideration, I feel that the radio talk shows are merely for entertainment purposes. They really serve no more purpose than a sitcom in TV. Sometimes valid points, if taken into consideration removing the hyperbole and tonal inflections that color their delivery, could be worthy of consideration. But let's face it, none of the hosts really care.what you or I think. They get a kick out of inciting ire and angst. It's really quite Machevillian, when you think about it.

You're right. Plus, as far as the stuff those radio personalities bloviate about , I wonder how much they actually believe themselves? A lot of their act, as you addressed in your post, is just to incite and keep those ratings up.

I agree they love to get a certain bunch fired up. It dont do me that way though.

 

But to pretend that both sides dont do it is absurd.

 

I do like listening to George Noory though.
