Bowling Green vs. St. Xavier

Featured Replies

Based upon returnees and the closeness of the 2005 game, I would have to say that my Tigers are the definite "big-time underdog" this year, Purple Haze. Looks like the lions versus the Christians in the Roman Arena to me. Are you at least providiing free food and drinks to your victims in 2006? Will there be an open tab at the concession stand? :D

You must have graduated with honors from the Lou Holtz School of Football Poormouthing. ;)

I don't know how it is "Poormouthing" when Bowling Green has an RB who is as good or better than the best we have had in many years, a QB with experience versus one of three novices, two of the top 5 LB's in Kentucky, an OL/DL who is the #1 ranked player in the state, a 6-6 WR going against DB's who can't even touch his nose when they leap their highest, one of the top 5 DB's in the state, a placekicker who has no peer in Kentucky, plus playing in a stadium haunted with Purple Ghosts. I did my best to convince our AD, Alan Dunhoff, to just go ahead and pay the multiple thousands required to back out of this game (ala Alcoa and Western), but he is a man of high principles who said we would just have to take our lumps. Whoa is me!! :scared:

Maybe it's all this rain we've had, but the Ox sure is sandbagging, isn't he? :sssh:

Hey H...I've only got TWO (2) VARSITY STARTERS BACK...What the heck! How can I honestly expect all my kindergarden kids to stand up to this kind of pressure?

Your JV reloads are probably better than the returning varsity starters at most schools. Heck, your scout team is probably better than the one it simulates half the time! ;)

I have to feel that BG will be slightly favored in this one for several reasons. As previosly noted by Oxnard, St. X has just lost too many starters from last year's team. It is possible that as many as 10 underclassmen will be playing key roles on this years team which is highly unusual for St. X. It's the first game of the year, and everyone knows that St. X introduces its' offensive and defensive schemes slowly and will not have its' full complement of weapons ready to use in August. Now add to this the strength of BG's team, 4 of the top 26 players in the state, along with a full complement of returning starters and I see BG being favored.

No matter what the outcome is, it will be a great test for both teams and both will benefit from it later in the year.
