December 1, 201510 yr Saw a set of numbers that really explained all the frustration last night. Richt has had 79 players drafted in the NFL draft in the last 12 years. That's the most of any coach in the country. But... every other coach with at least 60 has won at least one national title. Similar argument could have been made vs Dean Smith in the first twenty years of his career.
December 1, 201510 yr I'm with Jesse on this one. Vince Dooley won only one National Title. Outside of the Walker years he never really contended for the National Title. Guess they would have let him go as well.
December 1, 201510 yr Similar argument could have been made vs Dean Smith in the first twenty years of his career. Sure. And I don't agree with firing him. Just pointing this out and saying that no coach in the country has missed his opportunities more with supremely talented players. He hasn't missed by much either. He's had several really nice seasons and seems to be a darn good coach. Never a guarantee that the next guy can even win nine every year.
December 1, 201510 yr Richt is apparently in Miami today... Correct. Late report says Miami has determined who their choice will be.
December 1, 201510 yr Richt is apparently in Miami today... Along with Butch Davis, Greg Schiano, and Dan Mullen.
December 1, 201510 yr Correct. Late report says Miami has determined who their choice will be. So they will announce soon?
December 1, 201510 yr The tweet I saw said the Miami job was Richt's if he wanted it. I wonder how Luther Campbell feels.
December 2, 201510 yr I did not realize Richt played at Miami.... Me either, but imagine Mark Richt at Miami. This super conservative, super religious, guy coaching at "The U." I know the "The U" isn't what it used to be, but still.
