December 18, 201510 yr Hope you are feeling better. My incisions are supposed to be a lot smaller though. So were mine...was supposed to be arthroscopic. However, when the doc was in the shoulder, he realized there was more to be done, and they couldn't do it to his satisfaction without a "Munford" incision...actually two of them...and it converted to an open procedure. The incisions aren't really what is the bother anyway...it is the fire in the joint for the first few days after.
December 18, 201510 yr Author ^ As far as the incisions, the one will be right above the head of my Sacred Heart of Jesus tattoo, he assured me that he will stay above Him. I had to go pick up my DonJoy ice machine this week and they told me about the eating and all, and we have to talk to the Dr's when I go in on Monday about the pain meds. The Dr actually had the same thing done and he said that he only took one pain pill and tosh was it, but my concern is being on something that may make me hallucinate and mess with my anxiety. But as with, I can't sleep well at all now, but most of the day my shoulder is in at least moderate pain most of the day/night anymore.
December 18, 201510 yr Thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery Monday, SG! Hope it's a quick and full recovery!
December 18, 201510 yr Thanks!! My stitches were taken out Wednesday and all looks good. Still have to keep my elbow by my side. The pain is a little better every day, but sleeping not so great yet. However, that was the case before the surgery as well. I was thinking about yours coming up the 21st. If you need help, and you won't feel so well the first three days after, message me, or let me know now, and we will help out. Not that you'll be real hungry, but make sure you have some heat and serve food available so you don't have to put much effort into it. After day 4 things start getting better fast. Good to hear you're doing so well. Post surgery sounds good. Have they said when you'll start PT? Sleeping before surgery was pretty much impossible but you gradually improve now. I used that ice machine for quite a while, helped pain and swelling more than pain pills except PT. Are you in a sling or just trying not to use it? The sling kept me from using if I forgot. I'm glad you feeling better.

Sounds like you got a lot of BGP members to answer your questions, if you have any. Use that ice machine, it sure helped my pain. And meds can make you feel out of it. For me, don't take pain meds on empty stomach. Good Luck.

For now my task is to bend over, hang the arm and swing it in small circles. I caught the sling in the door handle leaving the doctor's office, and it could have been bad....decided I was done with it.

I asked for and got the good stuff (Percocet), and I used it, but it was a trade off with the havoc it causes to one's digestive system. I stopped "using" on day 4.
December 18, 201510 yr Author Thanks Mamaw! Hope we also helped Doomer a bit too, good information that many provided for all. Doomer, that is what he is planning to give me, Percocet. My shoulder has been in a lot of pain the last 24 or so, so this is being done at the right time. Thanks again

Do those gradual motions, you don't want frozen shoulder. Glad you're this far along the getting your life back path.

December 21, 201510 yr Well I need to get shoulder surgery on December 21st for a rotator cuff / bicep sublaxtion. I really hate this as I had a lot planned for this coming year, including returning to Israel for more training, thankfully they have agreed to either refund all of my money or hold it and I can take the same course at a later date. Has anyone else had a similar surgery? Good luck today!
December 22, 201510 yr Author Yes, thanks for asking. They also cut out a small piece of bone when they went in, I started on percicet last night, the nerve block started losing its effect about 5AM. AND, I just got back from my first PT, I called them about 10AM and they had an opening, and I felt like I could do it. They said everything looks real good considering it was just over 24 hours ago that I had surgery. They want me to try to use just Advil today and take the percicet when I sleep, and if all goes well to just use the Advil starting tomorrow, or try to alternate between the two. I posted some photos yesterday on Facebook, then today I realized that my right eye was barely open, I was told that it was the nerve block, I didn't even realize it until I looked at the pics. So far so good. The Don Joy Ice Man machine is amazing too How are you doing Doomer?
