GrantNKY Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Sorry if this thread has been done before, but with all of the talk about the 2016 class being his best ever, how would you rank the recruiting classes (not including 2016) that Cal has brought in since he has been at UK. My List: 1. 09-10 Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe (Best talent Cal has ever had, how they lost to WVU I'll never know) 2. 11-12 Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist, Teague (Won a championship, so duh) 3. 14-15 Towns, Booker, Ulis (38-1) 4. 15-16 Murray, Labisseire, Briscoe (Obviously haven't proved a lot yet, but best guard play since Wall and Bledsoe) 5. 13-14 Harrisons, Randle, Young (Took awhile to put it together) 6. 10-11 Knight, Lamb, Jones (See #5) 7. 12-13 Noel, Goodwin, Poythress (ehh) *1-3 Interchangable
Jumper_Dad Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Depends are we ranking them coming out of High School or for what they produced while at UK?

formerkywrestler Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Produced at UK. Let the experts rank them out of high school.By this criteria I can't understand how Davis, Teague, and MKG aren't #1.

However as a college team they had a big flaw and that was not being a good shooting team. People act like that team dominated everyone. That team barely beat some teams like Miami Ohio, etc. That team proved in the regular season their big flaws hurt and why they lost some and had close games. That flaw is also why they lost in the elite 8. I would say that recruiting class is in the top 3 for Cal since it was so star heavy. But as a team I would put them 4th.
GrantNKY Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 I understand the 09-10 team didn't make the final four, but I just have a personal bias for them I don't know why. I just have a certain affinity for them. Maybe its because they put Kentucky Basketball back on the map, but like I said in my post 1-3 are interchangeable to me and I would not argue with some one saying either of those three. The 11-12 team had key contributors decide to come back for another year (Jones, Lamb, etc.) as well as last years team which had the twins, Willie (twice), etc. The 09-10 team was literally one class of players. If only Meeks had returned.

As a team though you have to keep in mind that one class of players led this team. They didn't have the returning players like 11-12 did with Jones, Lamb, Miller etc. and what last years team had with the twins and Willie.

The 11 12 team had two players in that class that were the number 1 and 2 pick in the draft and also Teague. The 09 team did also have Patrick Patterson who is still playing in the NBA. So it wasn't just those three players that year. Also Darius Miller too. In terms of top level star talent that 09 team definitely is top 3 and maybe the best. Just the team itself I was not as high on as other UK teams under cal.

I don't know how I forgot about him.
Hatz Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Lyles also needs to be listed in last years freshman class.
Cats3x Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 09/10 had two and a half NBA all-stars in that class. Hard to beat that.
jlow Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 As long as Cal is in charge UK will have players (blatantly obvious).....Crazy list of players above no matter how you want to stack it.......... Did I mention the list of players above is absurd above...........video game absurdity:wave:
NKY Bandit Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 2009-2010 was the most important class. John Wall was to UK what Jamal Mashburn was to UK for Pitino.
