If he turned it down, it is a shame. He could have done great things there.

When a job like this comes open why are Glaser and Redman mentioned? They have some great accomplishments but have been out of coaching and probably arent interested in taking a job and staying for very long.

 

Someone like Yeast has hopped all over as well. Would be a tougher sell but better to go with a younger up and comer who wants to build and would be interested in staying. But in my experience thats not how JCPS works.

 

Obviously Coach Redman has other interests at this point in his life but I wouldn't rule out Coach Glaser. Manual needs to come up with some money.

I know he's coaching in Ohio, at Freemont Ross (yes?). But I haven't kept up with his record or anything about his coaching career.

Obviously you don't know how corrupt the booster clubs are and where that money goes. Same thing for summer camps that the coaches run.

Any Assistants at T or X have HC experience that might be looked at for that job? I know Cobb has HC experience at 3 or 4 schools and is a Coordinator I think at Trinity.

So the KHSAA Riherds Scoreboard only goes back to 1998. In that time, Manual has a lot of wins, but they have only made it out of the 2nd round of the playoffs 1 time in the past 18 years. They seem to have multiple losses to middle of the pack schools. What constitutes Manual as an elite program and a great coaching job that everybody should want?

Yes, he still the HC and stablitily for him is a concern but it's all about experience in the coaching world. Plus I don't think he would have a problem with Lousiville football because he's a great offense of mind and manual has talent. So he would be very competitive because he left Byran Station better then when he started

What constitutes Manual as an elite program and a great coaching job that everybody should want?

 

One must understand the lay of the land in Jefferson County to get why Manual has such great potential.

 

1) Jeff. Co. is the most talent-rich area of the state.

 

2) Only 4 JCPS schools have the opportunity to accept students from any part of the county and provide them bus transportation: Male, Manual, Butler, and Central. Of those, Male and Butler are "traditional" meaning they are supposed to only take kids who went to one of 3 "traditional" middle schools (though there are ways others can get accepted). The rest of us basically get the kids who live in our 'resides area.'

 

3) Manual is ranked as one of the highest academic-achieving schools in Ky. because of the high caliber of their magnet programs. Add to that they've recently added a program ("High School University") that can accept kids not in their Math/Science/Technology, Visual Arts, Journalism, or Performing Arts magnets and it really opens the door to many of the best athletes in the county.

 

Kids graduating from there whether in a magnet or the "HSU" get a diploma from "Manual High School" -- one of the top schools in the state. Pretty nice thing to be able to tell a parent who wants the best for their kid. Has helped them pull some of the better kids recently that you might usually see go to a private school (pretty good pitch: come to maybe the best academic HS in the state and save $10K a year).

 

Another plus to a lot of coaches is that your Principal would be a former head football coach (Jerry Mayes).
