Yeah, slavery did encourage entrepreneurs to pop up. He got that one right.

I thought it was because of Samuel Slater.

Income statement from 1804:

Cotton revenue : $100,000

Cost of Goods: $10,000

Equipment: $5,000

Labor: SLAVERY

Gross Profit :$85,000

Business wizards!

Kinda like the "no federal government experience for Declaration signers" thing. Technically, he's correct.

Man, I'd have been rich.

Oh...wait.....okay. Maybe not.

This actually wasn't even close to a dumb comment. The lack of regulation on factories in North is a big factor in the Industrial revolution.

I get we are trying to make everything he says a gotcha comment now. But this one is a terrible attempt.

I mean this was a very bad gotcha attempt.

Not really. His inability to explain his comments in depth is the problem. It's a good thing there are people who want to defend him and know how to translate Carson-speak.

I do find him hard to follow on economic points. His "big bank" answer last night not only had me confused but also Cavuto.

'SLAVERY' does not equal zero.

Still the 'owner' has the cost of acquiring the slave, feeding the slave, housing the slave, providing medical care, etc. As for the 'benefits' slaves got - free housing, free food, free medical....

It's basically an economic fact that the two leading causes of the Industrial revolution was one innovation and inventions and two the minimal federal government regulations and red tape.

I suggest anyone who doubts this do a little research on the amount of regulations and red tape a new small business has to go through today compared to even 50 years ago.

Oh yes, forgot about the 'motivational' cost elements....whips, shackles, etc...

I hope everyone has their sarcasm glasses on for these...
