November 12, 201510 yr Tell me one era that was perfect. Of course there were things that were extremely wrong , it doesn't mean there aren't things we can't learn from this time. It was the time period that made this country a world power. Apparently this is the worst era if you listen to some of these repubs and that includes BGP guys too. Kind of funny we downplay the black eyes of this nation, yet scream Obama is sending this nation to Hades.
November 12, 201510 yr Yep let's mock this man's intelligence again. You'd be lucky to be in his stratosphere of intelligence. Say you disagree but your post loses all value when you question his intelligence. From what I see and hear from this guy he is in the stratosphere. I'll keep my feet on the ground.
November 12, 201510 yr Absolutely. Sell it in the general election. Preach on! So the premise of this statement is that majority of Americans aren't proud of America in general. I know the far left isn't. But talking about good things in America's past isn't a negative. The Industrial revolution is universally known as one of the greatest economic periods in world history.

But talking about good things in America's past isn't a negative. The Industrial revolution is universally known as one of the greatest economic periods in world history. The period at issue is 1776 to 1876, and that period is not universally known as one of the greatest economic periods in world history. Any economic period built, in part, upon slave labor and exploitation will not be universally praised. And since it also contributed to the cause of the civil war, I will say that is another reason not to like it. Finally, I love America and I do not appreciate your statement about whether I am proud of America. I am not proud of our history of slavery, at all. If you lack the capacity that people can be both proud of America and not proud of our history of slavery, that is your problem. You can disagree with me all you want, but the next time you feel compelled to question my patriotism, keep it to yourself.

But it seems weird you only see slavery in that era . There were millions of people during that era and a small minority owned slaves. In the Industrial north slavery was banned. By saying someone can't refer to American history says you aren't proud of it. Every nation on this earth has it evils to go along with the positives. My point is obviously slavery was evil no one disputes that. We didn't invent it . But it doesn't not mean there aren't things from an economic stand point we can look at . I'm a libertarian . I believe in freedom to upmost degree for everyone. The entire basis of Carson's argument is the red tape of the government gets in the way of small business and brings unneeded cost. That is fact.

People see what they want to see. I'm proud to be American but when I see this time period being touted as the time America became a world power economically my brain says that slavery made America powerful. That makes me feel uneasy.

November 12, 201510 yr I say if the Republicans want to nominate a guy who holds this period up as a positive economic model, let's let them. Who cares if he leaves out that slavery was a big part of it, or the forced labor of immigrants later, or the complete lack of protection for workers. This will go over much better in the general election. I want Solomon Carson in the general election...BADLY! Unfortunately, it will never happen.

November 12, 201510 yr I'm telling you. A Trump/Carson ticket would be must see TV!!!! As I said earlier, if Trumpy wins and picks Solomon to be on his ticket, Hillary will have multiple organisms(and probably I will too) because that would result in a Democratic landslide.
