I have noticed that Towles has ran the ball far less this year than last. Is this due to the change in offensive coordinators or for some other reason?

 

Basing his 2014 stats on 75% of the year's totals and then comparing to this year, his carries are down 42%, his positive yards gained are down 52%, negative yard plays down 16% and his total rushing yards gained are down 83%.

 

Does he need to be more of a threat to run to be a more effective QB?

I think a fair amount of his runs last year were actually on pass plays where he took off.

While he is somewhat athletic, I've seen him take off many times when he shouldn't have...

 

He belongs in the pocket 95% of the time.

Last year Towles did keep it on the zone read many times. I actually thought he played better after he ran it and got hit. I think it's definitely a difference in how Dawson wants the Offense to be. The zone read last year was about the only thing I liked about Brown's play calling too. It never has resembled The System since Stoops has been HC, IMO.

I only recall a few zone read plays when he kept it. Tenn-Martin he kept it for a big run for a TD, but that was a naked boot pass play he kept and took it to the house.

 

I would like to see him dump it off to the RB bubbling out of the backfield when pressured.

 

I think sacks count against rushing totals in college.

1. QB very inconsistent

2. WR's can not catch the ball

3. O-line is bad

 

Those 3 mean having a 500 season. Being inconsistent has cost them 2 games, Florida and Auburn. Right now they have no confidence or belief in anything. They are thinking same old stuff, just like we are. Vandy will beat them and so will Louisville I am afraid and UK will lose more recruits, it is a hard battle to win
