KHSAA Member pass 2 proposals

Featured Replies

Lordy I loved reading your post. Nothing like adding a little free enterprise and competition to make complacent schools get off their duffs. If you don't want to make the committment to athletics and academics at your school, fine, but don't begrudge those schools that do.

People forget that this may be the main reason KBE refused to go along with the separation. It has nothing to do with athletics. Since the 1990s, the State Board has set about establishing a system that not only encourages schools to do whatever they can to excel, but pretty much compels them to do so. Without that accountability, the schools would simply be guaranteed to get students simply by virtue of the parent's residence. That in and of itself totally discourages any efforts to improve and be held accountable for the final product.

I'm sure that those that bend the rules are already figuring out loopholes to get around the letter of the law..Not sure why we spend so much time on this. The cheaters will cheat and the KHSAA will continue to do nothing..

And some people will continue to complain:rolleyes:

:thumb: Exactly..If they continue to cheat or find ways to circumvent the rules then I will continue to point it out..Boy talk about some people that simply refuse to listen to anyones opinion but their own..This entire site is becoming far 2 one-sided and god forbid if you don't agree with the majority around here or those that think their opinion is supposed to account for a little more..

Again I truly don't think Prop 20 is the right answer for Ky Schools and these 2 proposals are at least a step in the right direction but I still feel they could have done more. With that said I believe most public school supporters can be on onboard with these 2 porposals but who is to say the BOC will approve..They have already not listened to the overwhelming majority on at least one ocasssion. Who is to say they won't do so it again..Talk about a do nothing group..

I am still trying to wrap my mind around your concept of cheating. I am somewhat befuddled as I know my school has been in full compliance with the rules set down as they are by the KHSAA. How can following the rules that are on the books be set down as cheating?

If your school is in compliance then that is great but do you find it so hard to believe or so far out of the realm of being remotely possible that you can't at least acknowledge that some schools do try to find find ways to circumvent the rules. I mean PepRock if you say your school follows the rules as they are written then I believe you and I also believe that most do but there are those few that find ways around the rules or how to make the rules work in certain ways for their benefit..Don't tell me that you don't think that this could possibly happen..

If you know of facts where a school has cheated, as the Guru as warned, turn the facts into the KHSAA. If you don't have facts, but only hunches, unfounded rumors and innuendos, that's probably not enough to make definitive statements that schools are cheating in Ky.

Now if you only stating that cheating could possibly happen, well that's something completely different. Of course its possible. Anything's possible.

As to your comment as to whether the BOC will recommend approval of the two proposals that were just approved by a referendum vote, I know you don't know the facts or the procedures of the KHSAA, but the BOC actually recommended approval of the two proposals before they were sent to the schools. As opposed to amendments proposed by schools at the annual meeting (which was the case with Prop 20), referendum amendments sent out by the KHSAA must first be approved by the BOC.

Yes it happens and they are punished when caught.

Are you now wanting to punish schools because they MAY break the rules. George Orwell wrote a book about that.

As long as there are rules there will be people who try to skirt them, it happens in every aspect of life.

Am I the only on that finds it absurd to be opposed to a rule because somone may try to break it?

I agree with you and quite possibly I have done just as you have suggested.

Also thank-you for the info regarding the workings of BOC. Glad to know you are so well versed on the KHSAA and the BOC. In the future when I have a question if you don't mind I just may turn to you for guidance. I stand by my opinion that the BOC is a good old boy do nothing group of guys and gals that really don't accomplish much.. Just my opinion though..I think I'm still aloud to have one..

I don't doubt that but the attitude that you have come across with at times has seemed to indicate that you feel that way about all of us. That is probably the reason many have reacted with such hostility to your comments. I do understand and see your point however, and think that in information outlined above that those schools that do find ways around the rules out to be punished, no matter whether they are public, private or independent. :thumb:

 Ok then..thanks..I think..

In no way have I ever said it is all of you. Honestly I'm not sure who you refer to as being "You". I don't single anyone out and certainly don't suggest that it is only private schools that skirt the rules.. My detractors have made that assumption. I would suggest that there are only a handful and they include a few public and a few private.. For some reason those that disagree with what I say for the most part seem to be private school supporters and for some reason it always seems to strike a nerve with them as if I'm making it personal. As I have said before I support any and all schools (public or private) that have the best interest of kids at heart. And I believe most do.

Where this issue is concerned we are accustomed to being accused; knee jerk reaction. Considering what has been happening over the course of the last year, in regards to these issues we feel a tad bit persecuted and singled out. That is generally the reason for much of our hostility.

Of course you are allowed to have an opinion in re the BOC. As you have read on here, I have frequently been critical of the BOC myself. But the credibility of your opinions gets questioned and people respond negatively to your posts when you base your opinions on factually inaccurate statements. I love a good debate, its the lawyer in me. And I don't expect in any way for everyone in the State, in N. Ky or even Ft. Thomas to like Highlands. I'm okay with that. I just ask that their criticisms be based on facts, not innuendos, hunches or the like. Its not fair to the coaches, the kids and the supporters of the program whom all have put countless hours into building and maintaining the program. I know with your passion for Ludlow that you would not want Ludlow treated that way.

I will do my best to answer any questions that you have about the KHSAA and if I don't know the answer, I'll try to get it for you.

:thumb: Thanks..Again who is to say i don't have some facts to back up what I suggest..Anyway enough of that and I do appreciate your comments. What I'm most passionate about are kids and I don't like if I think they are being used or taken advantage of. I think we all probably agree on that though.

Did you say Ft Thomas lawyer..Hmmm, that explains everything...Just kidding and thanks again...

I was starting to wonder if there were any public school supporters on here besides me, been kinda lopsided. I am with you with the good ol boy thinking, :thumb:
