November 9, 201510 yr What an astute observation. I think he may have just won my vote with that observation. I never knew that until he said it. #sarcasm
November 9, 201510 yr What an astute observation. I think he may have just won my vote with that observation. I never knew that until he said it. #sarcasm Serious question. I don't think their is a right or wrong. I have a few black friends who admit they voted for Obama mainly to see the first black president. Which I honestly get. But let's say Obama wasn't elected and Carson was running as the GOP candidate. How many black people would vote for Carson to see the first black president ?

Nowhere near as many that voted for Obama. Black republicans will always have an uphill battle getting the black vote whether he'd have had a chance to be the first black president of not. I wouldn't have voted for him.
November 9, 201510 yr If Donald Duck had a D after his name he would get more black votes that ANY black republican. That is sad but just the fact. The D behind Obama's name got him far more black votes than him being black.

The D behind Obama's name got him far more black votes than him being black. Maybe, but didn't his elections see some of the largest voter participation in history?

The D behind Obama's name got him far more black votes than him being black. Nah. Being a black democrat that won the nomination got him his votes. I could run as a black republican and I am confident I could win the black vote. I know what to say and how to say it and I know how to convince blacks to vote republican. Other black republicans have failed in that department and that is the problem. Black republicans have chosen to be insulting and condescending and they fail to communicate properly to the masses. That has hurt them more than anything else.

You are dreaming PP...not even YOU could pull that off:)...winning the black vote as an R. Since 2000, according to Gallup, Gore beat Bush 95-3% with the black vote in 2000, Kerry over Bush 93-7% in 2004, Obama over McCain 99-1% in 2008 and Obama over Romney 95-5% in 2012. I understand in 2008 why it was basically 100% for Obama because of the historical aspect. However, you can be black or white with a D behind your name and get 93%+ of the black vote. I have never understood this. For the past 50 years, blacks vote almost unanimously with the D's and what has it gotten them? And yet, NO OTHER GROUP of people are as loyal to any political party as the black folks are to the D's. If I was a R running for office (thank goodness I am not), I would just try to get my base out because no matter what I do, I am not going to get more than 5-7% of the black vote.

I guarantee I could. Guarantee it. What is voting for democrats supposed to get us? What is voting for a republican supposed to get us that apparently we are missing out on? Will I get my 40 acres and a mule if I vote republican? Reparations? What will I get as a black person in America if I vote republican? Please let me know because money talks. They can have my vote if the price is right. Every time Obama gives a black perspective on an issue he is hailed as a racist. And that is mainly coming from conservatives. So why would any black person vote for a republican in today's climate? Every time a racial incident happens in America who tends to be more compassionate to the black perspective and who tends to be more defensive and combative? Hell, look at the approach to the #blacklivesmatter movement. Which side addresses it and which side ignores it or tries to discredit it and make false statements about it? It always cracks me up when folks question why blacks are loyal to democrats. Republicans have done absolutely nothing to ever try to get the black vote and your last sentence pretty much says why should I care about the black vote. The irony of it all is that there are a ton of blacks that share republican principles but the lack of concern to the black perspective from republicans ruins it all. That's why I guarantee I could get the black vote as a republican. Because I know how to talk to black people. Too many republicans don't know how to or they don't care to because "hell, they aren't going to vote for me anyways. I'm a white male."
November 11, 201510 yr I don't know what voting for a R would get black voters...but why not see? Or why wouldn't even 20% of black voters want to see? How has voting for D's done for you? If you think it has worked well for the black community, then keep voting for D's. Also, a R cannot win today in the current climate with the black voters. If he/she does go into black precincts and does try, they are seen as pandering just to try to get the black vote. If they don't, then they don't care about black people. I am telling you that no matter what a R does, they have no shot of even getting 20% of the black vote. Heck, Hillary could be indicted by the Feds and sitting in a jail cell and if she is the D nominee, I guaranty you more black voters would vote for her than any R.

Democrats have shown that they'll listen to the black community and they show compassion to the black community. It's that simple. When you look at all of the black politicians and count them up regardless of which aisle they are on you'll see way more black democrat politicians than republican. That shows that black democrats are more successful and more likely to get elected than black republicans. Then when you add in republican mouth pieces that have shown an inability and lack of desire to relate to the black community and there you have it. A republican can't win the black vote in today's climate because republicans don't want the black vote because they don't care about the black vote because they don't feel they need it. I guarantee I could get the black vote as a republican. Guarantee it. I'd support the Mizzou protestors. I'd embrace #blacklivesmatter . I'd make it my life mission to improve public schools in the inner cities. I'd show more compassion to the black community than any other black republican ever. I'd work on decriminalizing marijuana. I'd go to all of the rich rappers and get them to admit that they are really republicans because they need less taxes too. I'd go to all of the black churches and express my desire to preserve the sanctity of marriage. Blacks oppose gay marriage more than anyone else in this nation. And I'd do all of that as a republican. And I'd kill it and dominate the black vote like Obama. With an ® next to my name. It's that simple.

We can just agree to disagree on this one...I still love your posts PP...even when you are wrong:lol2:
