Why did McCracken County leave for State today?

Featured Replies

Since distances have been discussed in this thread I decided to google how far it is from my Owsley Counry home to Paducah, because I've never been farther west in Kentucky than Bowling Green and some time in the future i'd like to visit the far western part of the state.

Well, after googling I discovered there's not much difference in distance from my home town of Booneville to Paducah than it is driving to Atlanta, Ga. It's 340 miles and 5 1/2 hour drive. It's a LONG way from east to west in this state. And Pikeville is 2 hours east of where I live.

Yup. That's why I'm NOT in favor of blind/random draw for football pairings (at least in first 3 rounds).

In my area tonight:

- Fort Campbell at Elizabethtown

- Fort Knox at Russellville

- Franklin County at John Hardin

- Daviess County at North Hardin

- Grayson County at Owensboro

- Meade County at Henderson County

- Ohio County at Central Hardin

Seven games. No easy (short) drives. None quicker than an hour (Maybe Grayson-Owensboro)?

And maybe just two of those (Meade-Henderson and North Hardin-Daviess) are projected/expected to even be competitive.

But yeah, let's blowout the travel budget for longer trips (and no ties for either team) for more ... blowouts. Makes perfect sense.

not sure why there's even a thread on this. It's STATE. Let's the kids enjoy the moment. One more day out of the classroom isn't going to really matter, especially when those young ladies are likely thinking about the game.

This times a hundred.

I know teams in other sports that have done the same thing and had half the drive that Mcracken does. No big deal. Enjoy the experience.

They don't play until 330pm on Friday. They could sleep in until Noon on Friday and still make it. And since when is a 3 hour bus ride exhausting.

You don't sleep in on game day. You eat breakfast and pregame meal at least 3 hours before game time.

Maybe it is their first trip to state? School district wants to make it a big deal to encourage others to want to play at state too? I don't see what the big deal is to miss a day of school to travel to Louisville after a long season of hard work.

3rd straight year to state

and did any of them leave 29 hours before gametime to get to their destination?

Have you met a female high school athlete? The game is the last thing they are thinking about.

I'm with the majority, WHO GIVES A :poop:.

I'm also with @LCDAWGS19.....why is this even a thread?

BTW, McCracken Co., thanks for coming....signed Assumption.

Out of curiosity - why is this so important to you?
