1st grader suspended 3 days for shooting imaginary bow/arrow at kid in recess.

Featured Replies

So much for playing super hero. 3 days is a lot, couldnt something better be done to the kid, like talking to him and telling him why he cant do that and the next time he will be in trouble. Kids at age 6 can be scared into not doing that again. What does a 3 day suspension really teach a 6 year old?

School suspends first-grader over imaginary bow and arrow | Fox News

Common sense is a super power.

Saw this story on the morning news yesterday. It amazes me how much stupidity there is in schools sometimes.

“I have no tolerance for any real, pretend or imitated violence,” a letter from Principal Joe Crachiolo to the boys’ parents said.

I assume he doesn't ever watch any football or hockey...

Really, it shouldn't surprise us at all R2S.

Sad when a kid is reprimanded for using his/her imagination.

Stupid. The principal should shoot a pretend bow and arrow at his own foot.

Taking the other side, isn't it a good thing that some schools/Principals are being so vigilant in this area?

Not when it's stupid ridiculous as it is in this case. We've gone way over the edge of the cliff with the no tolerance nonsense. Oh, I'm sorry, that may have been too violent of a picture I painted there for some of the PC crowd.

I wonder how many days I'd get for swinging my imaginary SW in the office at work. I'd guess at least 2. You could do a lot of damage with an imaginary wedge.

I seen all kinds of little thugs at Halloween. Should have tased and arrested all of them. Who knows what their intentions were.

Halloween is one of the proper times to "act out," right?

I felt like I was falling off a cliff, oh the trauma you have caused me RTS.

Was this the kid's first occurrence or was this escalating discipline?

Not really. People who are going to snap and cause school violence aren't showing many signs beforehand. Also 0 first graders have ever shot up a school.

Except on Sons of Anarchy, of course.

Ha! Of course you know that wasn't directed at you.

Not sure, they didn't mention he was a problem in the news story I saw.
