I would really like to see Mayfield and Danville. As the old saying always goes you have to beat the best to be the best. Mayfield has been in the running for best 2a team all year as they should be but I also think that far to many people think that the west is just too dominate for the east. I will say this Danville has a legit shot especially if Dampier is on.

Food for thought....Desales beat North Hardin 41-7...was a total mismatch. Caldwell County beats North Hardin 49-35...didn't see the game, but sure doesn't look like a mismatch. Mayfield comes back and beats Caldwell by 1 at the end of the game. Let's eat.

 

No 2a team is coming into War Memorial and putting up 41s or 49s on this MF defense. I think most teams will struggle and find themselves in the 14-17 point range at best. If MF's offense can produce something north of 20 points they should be good to go.

Very true but I think you were missing my point, I was having a little fun with Ram making him defend it. In my op there are 6 teams that have a good chance at this thing. Starting in round 2 for a few and for most in round 3 there are no more cup cakes so I think any one of those teams would be fine without any extra bulls eye.

As for Johnson Central.. I agree to an extent. Belfry isn't 41 points better than JC with those 3 players on the field that did not play,, but they are probably 2-3 TD's better. Still think JC is the team to beat in the East...but South Warren is rolling and I have a hard time seeing anyone in the East hang within 2 TD's of them.

 

The again... South Warren looked like a juggernaut their last two years in 3A and couldn't even make it to Bowling Green.

So you better hope for DeSales then. You guys should have a easy time with us, by your assumption. Funny thing is though while we did lose to CAL, which is nothing new by the way, we did have 4 turnovers, that was the game. Stats don't win games but if they did, lets look at them. First downs DeSales 16 Cal 6. Rushing DeSales 128 CAL 38. They did beat us in the air CAL 131 DeSales 64. It was a typical CAL vs DeSales game. We don't turn the ball over (which we did) they scored on a FG. These are the 2 best defenses in 2A hands down. They will keep either team in any game. Losing that regular season game against CAL has always helped our kids come playoff time. They feed off of it. If we don't get cute and go away from what was working in that first game, and continue to pound the ball like we should have, then we might get the same result. But something tells me, it's going to be a repeat of the last 3 years. Our boys expect to beat CAL when it counts.

Losing on purpose? I like it.

No DeLorean, but we do have a computer that swamprat put together that is as big as a desk and has vacuum tubes that are four feet tall. It's a beauty.

@ColtPride I have read the post and keep hearing you say turnovers beat Desales and if that then this and yawn (your word) we have done this in the past! I love your confidence in your team but this is a new year with new players and turnovers are part of the game so give the CAL defense some credit. We have several freshman and first year players that as of now have never lost to Desales but still respect them. I have not read or seen one post on this site of a CAL parent or fan disrespecting desales, so for you to do that and make excuses for your team is no different from other disrespecting desales which is getting you upset. Hopefully both our teams will make it to round 3 and then the teams can determine who moves on based on this years talent not past years. @bigshow make no mistake desales has talent and can play, anyone that says different is just trying to start stuff!! Still waiting to buy you some concessions

I gave your defense credit. I said we had the turnovers. But if your saying the turnovers had no impact on the game. C'mon! Last year you guys just plain beat us in the regular season. This year, yeah you won, credit is due, but we've been down this path before. All Ive said is next time we meet in the playoffs. We win. That's my opinion. And give me this, it kinda is based on past performances. I'm not disrespecting CAL, you can use whatever motivation you need there. I feel if CAL does survive that they can beat Mayfield. But. I don't think you'll beat DeSales when it counts. What can I say? I'm a fan. I support my team.

ColtPride - I wish I had your confidence. I have ZERO doubt that our boys are capable of winning the whole thing. However, I just think our margin for error is smaller than in the past two years. And the game against Monroe County scares me. One of the posts from the admin folks (this post?) called for a potential upset when we travel down there. I agree for two reasons. First, I have heard from reputable sources that Monroe is for real. Second, it's the game before the rematch with CAL. If WE'RE overlooking Monroe County as grown adults, don't you think it's likely that teenagers will do it too? So if we play CAL and/or Mayfield, so be it. But I hope the coaches have the boys' full focus on each game as it comes.
