Science Friction
Don't get me wrong. I am super happy with Sunday's win over the Steelers. This is a game that we probably lose in years past. I am very pleased with our team's play. However, having said that, there was one play in the game that, in my mind, epitomizes the difference between our Bengals and the championship mentality of the Patriots and why New England will probably represent the AFC in the Superbowl instead of the Bengals. Rather than state the play I am speaking of, can anyone share your thoughts on what you think the play is that I am referencing?

Science Friction
Off sides resulting in the missed field goal. Good guess as well. Discipline is an issue but, no, something deeper than that.
LRCW
Nope. Good guess though. Think about philosophies...mindsets... Being satisfied with a FG when having great field position after Ben's 3rd pick, instead of being aggressive and going for the TD to put the game away. Pioneer.Pride
In general, Dalton's unwillingness to throw the ball away and take sacks or throw picks. Too much time in the pocket. Dalton is also very inaccurate compared to Brady.

Dalton is also very inaccurate compared to Brady. Brady is great at progressing through his reads at getting rid of it as soon as it's not there. As far as the accuracy, I'll have to disagree. Dalton has completed 66.2% of his passes, Brady 68.9%. Not a huge difference there. Of course, NE receivers lead the world in drops this season. :idunno:

UKMustangFan
Ask Marvin Jones what he thinks about Dalton's accuracy. And Julian Edelman has probably lost 10 years off his life because of Brady hanging him out to dry. It's the nature of the beast.

Thank you kind sir!!!!! 1:55(or there abouts) left in the game.... Third down and 7 yards to go for a game-clinching first down . Instead of assertively trying to put the game on ice with a pass for first down, the Bengals(as the Steelers knew they would) ran a conservative play that lasted all of four seconds and gained nothing. Settled for a field goal and allowed the Steelers a chance to go downfield and attempt to win the game by a point(which they ALMOST did) . Tell me if I am wrong but there is NO WAY IN HELL that Brady and Belechek would have done the same. They would have wrapped up the win right then and there with a pass for the first down. We have a very nice team this year but that, my friends, is why the Patriots are champions and we are saddled with the albatross that is Mr Lewis' "play not to lose" philosophy. It almost bit us in the butt yesterday and it's only a matter of time until it gets us ...
Science Friction
And yes, I know that Andy is no Brady, but he is plenty confident and sufficiently skilled to have gotten the seven yards and a game-clinching first down... We've got to have the mindset that we are going to put teams away when we have the chance to do it and not allow the opposition the opportunity to snatch victory from us. I don't see Mr Lewis changing his philosophy.
GreyFox
Oh no, please don't say anything of the negative sort about Dalton. The vultures will be in you in a flash.
