I can't remember details, but remember I couldn't stand, I believe it was Coach Brian Kelly who came in there at UC and took the starting QB job away from Grutza by giving it to his guy Pike(?) and it back fired on him during the season and in a bowl game if I remember right. Anyone else recall the circumstances?

Seems like it, but for some reason I thought he got hurt and then a change was made. He took beatings his early years there. All in all he survived that pretty well.

I believe he got injured, but didn't get the QB job back as soon as he was better. He was the better of the 2 QB's, just wasn't Kelly's favorite for some reason
