Uber Drivers

Featured Replies

Any Uber drivers on BP? If so, how much are you making? Any major concerns?

I think it really depends on where you live.

One guy that I have ridden with many times in Lex. Told me he has a fulltime day job so he does it evenings and weekends, and makes in the $200-250 range a week. Which is a nice extra income.

However, he said will go to Nashville a couple of weekends a month. Stay in a cheap hotel on the outskirts and make $700-$800 in a weekend.

When we were in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, saw the most Uber drivers I have ever seen. Of course, we were at some of the more highly populated venues (Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, etc.).

I have a friend who lives in Chicago. Takes an Uber everywhere. Was looking at the possibility of taking a job back in Louisville and one of his considerations was whether or not he felt like buying a car again. It's a different world in those cities with extremely dense neighborhoods.

My wife is from NYC, one of the things I love about the place is the fact you don't need a car. You can literally walk, take the train, or bike anywhere you need to go. She still has family there so we visit quite often. If it were not for having a 3 year old daughter we would likely be living there.

As far as uber goes, like mentioned earlier I imagine it all depends on the city. To my knowledge we don't even have any uber drivers in the Huntington/Ashland area. I understand why, low demand, but our local taxi services are absolutely terrible. If you need one you better call an hour and a half to two hours before you need it. I understand that's generally not the case with uber.

I made out with an Uber driver in Nashville. Allegedly.

Did you get his number before you got out of the car?

I did get her number. It's still listed in my phone as Uberbeautiful. I think the beautiful part is also alleged.

My last Uber driver in Nashville looked like Honey Boo Boo's mom. I assume it was the same person.

You'd do it after 12 beers too.

Lightweight....I would have at least included the # of shots I did to make it bearable...

It really depends on the area you live in. I live in a town of 50,000 in Ohio and I can check Uber on a Saturday night at 12, and I might find 1 or 2 drivers who are 20 minutes away.

Go to Cincinnati on a Saturday night at 12, and you'll have a dozen drivers within 5 minutes probably.

Making money from being an Uber driver really just depends on the demand, just like any product.

I try to stay in the range of actually being physically able to do it lol

I use Uber in a lot of different cities. Once in a while in Cincy. One thing you will start to see more often is former cab drivers in big cities no longer renting Taxis from the medallion holders, but buying their own cars and driving. So much for being able to communicate with your Uber driver.
