Still a log jam at the top with Mayfield, CAL and DeSales. Who is going to make it to the Championship Game? Is Owensboro and Danville sneaking up on some people? No Top 10 matchups this week, but who will show the most in their wins? Who is just outside the Top 10?

 

I don't see the same log jam, CAL & MF I would not argue but DS has issues. A big but ordinary o line, not a real dominant back other than the QB when he runs and a passing game that is not real good. They have time to fix these but they will have to get better or go home

Will the road trip to Monroe County play against them? Monroe's defense is solid. They have averaged only giving up 18 points against much larger programs. Could this be a defensive battle or does everyone up north still believe they are out of Monroe's league?????

Good question. I see very few teams outside of Louisville, but considering we have run the exact same gamut the last two years to get to Bowling Green (Glasgow, CAL, Murray), it would be interesting to see another part of the state if nothing else! Good luck the rest of the way.

After watching CAL, DeSales and Mayfield, I have a few thoughts. First, CAL and Mayfield are head and shoulders above DeSales right now. This DeSales team is just not that talented and not developing as we had expected. Secondly, we do not have the break away back. Just my thoughts!

 

While I agree 100% with the rankings as things stand today, I find it hard to believe that you see CAL as "head and shoulders" above DeSales. We lost on turnovers. We outgained them in total yards, and had 16 first downs to their 6. Nobody in 2-A is going to beat CAL if they are -4 in turnovers against them. CAL is too good. We definitely have some problems on offense. We will have to sustain drives and finish them because of the speed deficiency. That is hard for HS teams to do against good competition, but that's how we played last year and it worked. Don't count us out. We will enter the playoffs ranked 3rd and we'll see how it plays out.

This is playing out, just like last year. However. I was more concerned with CAL after our game against us last year, than i was this year. Last year, they just flat out beat us. This year while they did win, we did out gain them pretty much in all stats, including the -4 turnovers.

There is a lot of factors in playoff football. I like our game in the cold, or rainy weather. Not taking anything away from CAL in that game. They won. But what do you think is going to be in the back of their minds when we meet again?

Agreed that we each have our own opinions, and I am familiar with the behind the scenes stuff. We had a lot of that last year as well. We don't need our offense to be like the 2013 team. We just need for them to avoid handing the other team 13 points in a 16-0 game. Defense wins championships and ours is as good as any. Go Colts!!!
