They were successful last year and many picked them to be the team to beat in NKy because of the identity they established last year, which was being very physical and handing the ball to Colin England, who if not the best is one of the top 5 RBs up here. I get that he is a really good QB, but not sure they have the receiving Corp to match him. Give the dang ball to 7 and the rest will take care of itself.

 

First, I hope no one considered last year a successful year for Ryle. They were 5-7 and got slaughtered in round 2 of the playoffs.

 

Second, I think everyone would say Ryle focused on the run last year and it got them that 5-7 record. Most people I recall said Ryle needed to stop running the ball so much and develop a passing game.

 

Third, the only people I recall who thought Ryle was the team to beat up here were the fanatical Ryle followers. Everyone else thought they might be better, but surely not the team to beat up here.

 

Fourth, Ryle has had trouble running the ball in games. England is powerful but not as quick in his cuts as Bateman. I think the offensive co-ordinator is watching what works in the first half and then going to their strength in that game in the second half. Usually, that has not been giving the ball to England. Ryle is having the season they are having primarily because of Tanner Morgan passing the ball.

 

I do believe they need to work England into the mix more in the second half of games. A big back like him can find success when teams are wearing down. But it is hard to second guess the coaches when they had an undefeated season going until Friday night.

I did not bring SK up in this thread. I responded to one of your posts by simply asking a question as to why you see a 19 point deficit in a game not being a large margin. You gave your reasons why you think it was closer than the score indicated and I gave mine as to why I thought it was not. You continually bring up previous scores of SK games saying we played them closer, well that is right for the most part. Both CAL and Bryan Station were closer but the others were not. Predictions by fans have zero relevance in the outcome of this game. I never said this game was a blow out but I will say this game was clearly controled by SK and the game was never in doubt. As for the 6 points allowed in the second half that happens constantly with SK. When they are up several scores play calling gets very conservative and more about clock management than scoring points. By the way holding Dillon to 60 yards rushing in a game has no relevance when you give up 180 total team rushing yards. SK's coaches will gladly have Dillon only gain 60 if they run for 180 as a team.

 

As for the Louisville schools they are ranked where they should be. They have consistantly shown their domination over NKY schools. That doesn't mean they should be put on a pedastal. When you bring them up in conversation about two NKY teams it makes it sound like who cares who is better because neither team will beat them. I don't know about you guys but I would much rather have my shot against them than to have lost in the second or third round of the playoffs.

What other game this year did SK score 6 or less in a half with their starters in? You said it happens Constantly I don't think it's happened any other time. As a matter of fact it has never happened this year with the starters in except against Cooper. Boone game was the only game that SK

To be fair to Ryle, against Cooper they did use England as their feature back but he couldn't run against Cooper's

Line. They ran a lot Fri night but Cooper just shut them down.

Wasn't the line as much as linebackers. Holes were there but closed quickly. D line was good , I think the LB's played better.
