Highlands' wins restored

 

In other action taken by the board, under Tackett's recommendation, 12 victories from the 2004 season were restored to Highlands and the KHSAA will repay a $1,500 administrative fee charged to the Bluebirds.

 

The victories had been taken away in 2005 for using Covington Catholic transfer Mike Mitchell, whose eligibility was in question.

The only reason I pointed that out was because Birdman was digging on Ryle for not having any state titles. He's trying to compare state titles, so I was comparing competition to achieve state titles.

 

So would Ryle have won the state title in the classes the Birds were in...in those years?? You can say we wouldn't have won it in 6a...we'll never know. But we can pretty much say that if Ryle had played down in those years, they wouldn't have won it in 3, 4 or 5a (the years the Birds were in it.) So I don't see what the point was of your argument.

what is the DIXIE OLine vs Highlands Dline matchup like and vice versa?

That is going to be the real story. anybody got the heavyweight matchup details??

If the Birds want to get their LB's in better position to make plays and Tackle, they need to have Robinson and Hebel on the DL creating penetration.

Lindeman has been on D his whole high school career. Maybe both ways Frosh. And he has played dline in the past. Got a lot of snaps there last year. Nothing new. So if they move him from OLB to dline, who replaces him at OLB? Or is he inside. Doesn't matter.

 

See, here lies the problem. Highlands has some really good Jimmy and Joes, they just don't have enough of them to compete with the bigs boys this year. Sorry for the Friday morning curdled milk, but it is what it is. Moving good kids to another position and filling that position with a less than average player, the holes are still there. Unless of course the really good players are going to play both ways more often. And maybe that is what's happening. Hope so for the teams sake.

 

It's District time and a new season. I really think you will see a turn around tonight. Some of it because of the competition. Some of it from personel changes and using more kids both ways. Good luck Birds!

Well someone needs to tell the KHSAA to update their scores then.

Dixie Heights has had 6 weeks to grow, adapt, and overcome. It's go time...no more they are too young, or they aren't getting it yet.

 

Yet must be now. The Colonels when giving their athletes the ball in space have had success. Anticipate the usual between the tackle run game. The key will be is this Dixie O-line ready to make a statement and execute consistently to create space for Barmore, Torres, and Faeth.

 

The Birds will blitz the A & B gaps...as have many with success. Probability is in their favor. The key for a Dixie win will be good pressure on the bird QB to force mistakes and good clock management with long sustained drives.

 

Looking forward to a good, hard fought game, between two teams seeking to make a statement in what has been a difficult season for both to this point in time. Grab your popcorn folks and Go Dixie Heights Colonels!!! :thumb:

A serious question here. Does Dixie have the ability to drive the ball the length of the field? The answer to this question could very well determine the outcome of this game IMO. I have not seen or followed Dixie much this year to know the answer to that question.

The good news is.....you'll find out whether they can or not this evening at about 10p.

That has been the problem all year. Moving these kid's all over and not knowing where or what they will be doing from one game to the next. Not to mention even the people in the stands know to watch for the kid who falls to try and trip people. They need to mix this up or it will be another game like the last. Another thing is everyone keeps saying the D is the problem but had O been doing what they need to be then the D would be off the field more than on correct me if I'm wrong.
