October 8, 201510 yr Aren't you a libertarian ? Are you saying you would be ok with it ? Are you ok with the Patriot Act ? Both thoughts crossed my mind. Thank you for voicing them.
October 8, 201510 yr Aren't you a libertarian ? Are you saying you would be ok with it ? Are you ok with the Patriot Act ? Remember, it's just a hypothetical. I know it's not a realistic scenario.... I am, but first and foremost I value life more than any political label or values. If it were a guarantee that there would be no more gun violence in this country, yes I'd give up the right to own guns, but again, I'll never own a gun regardless so it doesn't really impact me. As to the Patriot Act, if it would give me the same guarantee that we would never have another terrorist attack again, yes I'd be willing to sacrifice that. I get a lot of people wouldn't. And that's fine, just not as important to me.
October 8, 201510 yr I don't deal in hypothetical where my constitutional rights are concerned. I deal in reality. The reality of it is, as has already been pointed out, that once government has complete power over the people they can pretty well do as they please. Add to that that in a crisis situation where seconds matter the police are only minutes away. Those aren't hypotheticals, those are realities. Mic drop.....just walk away now
October 8, 201510 yr I would be more inclined to pass that cost on to the gun buyer than the Government. You have the right to own a gun, but no where (that I'm aware of) does it say how expensive that right will be. So what your saying is poor and lower income people should be priced out of gun ownership?
October 8, 201510 yr Not true at all. Of course' date=' if wanting to find a way to keep guns out of the hands of the deranged idiots that do these mass shootings makes me anti-gun, I'll gladly be anti-gun. I'll just label you pro-mass killings.[/quote'] As always one of your insane reckless responses that your computer screen affords you.

October 8, 201510 yr So what your saying is poor and lower income people should be priced out of gun ownership? Don't kid yourself, poor and lower income people are already priced out of gun ownership. As I said, I'm presenting options. I have no clue to the viability of them. Maybe none of them are viable. And that's fine. I simply think any and everything should be on the table as possible solutions. Something needs to be done. What we're currently doing isn't working.
October 8, 201510 yr So your not a libertarian then? Honestly, I don't really care what label you want to give me.
October 8, 201510 yr Again, I'm not surprised. In order for change to occur, for things like Sandy Hook or the Oregon shooting to never happen again, people have to care to prevent it. Too many people don't. It's why the whole gun control debate is utterly useless. Here it is in a nutshell. For many, a world without guns would be much more horrible than a world without violence. So horrible that it is too painful to even consider as a hypothetical.
October 8, 201510 yr As always one of your insane reckless responses that your computer screen affords you. :lol2: :lol2: You crack me up.
October 8, 201510 yr Honestly, I don't really care what label you want to give me. I've seen you call yourself such on here , I was just surprised by your response. In no way ever do I want to give up rights my forefathers died for. We are a free country and the answer is never less freedom.

So horrible that it is too painful to even consider as a hypothetical. I don't know or maybe discussing a utopian hypothetical on a topic looking for real solutions holds no value.

We are a free country and the answer is never less freedom. A few schoolchildren here and a few schoolchildren there and a few parishoners here and a few community college students there. Nothing we can do. The price of freedom. Freedom isn't free. Comes with the territory.
October 8, 201510 yr A few schoolchildren here and a few schoolchildren there and a few parishoners here and a few community college students there. Nothing we can do. The price of freedom. Freedom isn't free. Comes with the territory. This is such an irrational post. How do you legislate against evil? That's a way to have a grown up discussion label people as pro murder of children just because they don't think any solution offered makes sense.

We are a free country and the answer is never less freedom. That's great that you feel so strongly that way. We simply view things differently. While freedoms and rights are vastly important to me, there are some that I'd gladly give up if it guaranteed the safety of society as a whole. The right to own a gun is one of them, as I have no desire to regardless.
