Study: Kentucky "Dry" Counties Have More Meth

Featured Replies

I'll take that silly preacher all day long that's trying to keep a county wet. Heaven forbid a preacher feel convicted to try to help combat the evils that alcohol can bring like

DUI

Killing someone while drinking and driving

Alcoholics

Alcoholism

Spouse abuse

Taking money from family

Of course all anyone wants is the money

Money is root of all evil, that's very true.

So yeah I'm glad that chest thumping preacher is doing what he does, even if I choose wrong, he isn't.

Despite the fact that research data doesn't bear out any of that. DUI rates tend to be higher in dry counties brother.

Is bootlegging that big of a business anymore? In my life I think I've known of 2 in this county and neither one of them would have parted with a dime to assist with coercing an election outcome in their favor.

Maybe in some counties there are bootleggers rolling in money and willing to donate to the local elections...you'd think if that was true someone would have busted out the ones on the "Dry" side for accepting those donations.

Depends on how far away the nearest wet county is. When I lived in Somerset, I lived across the street from the guy alleged to be the biggest bootlegger in the county. He looked like he had a lot of moneyed interests to protect.

That's all ostrich-talk, because despite the preacher's satisfaction with himself, those problems still exist whether booze can be bought legally or not.

Maybe so but I don't or never fault a preacher for their convictions of what they know is true.

If they "know" that it causes all those problems and the data doesn't support it is their stance still true? Or are you trying to speak from a moral standpoint?

At least they are trying, which is more than some so called Christians can say.

I hope they get satisfaction out of what they do.

That's like saying "I cleaned up crime in my neighborhood" when a crack deal goes down across the street in plain view.

The worst murderers in U.S. history were stone cold sober(Bundy, Dahlmer, etc.).

Besides these arguments you are usinh really aren't that different than the ones made for gun control. How many people have to die from alcohol related incidents is no different the the same tired rhetoric we get about guns and "assault" weapons.

Besides I don't need you to lecture me on alcohol. There is enough of a history of abuse in my own family for me to know what it can do. I don't blame the alcohol, i blame the person because they made the decision to drink.

Just like those people that made the decision to shoot up innocent people. It is no different and frankly there are more important things to worry about then whether or not Jimmy Ray can get a six pack of Bud before he watches the Cats play at home.

I'm not lecturing to you or do I pretend to be.

Have a good night

In a free society we should allow people to make their own choices to either harm or benifit themselves. If those choices then lead to crimes against other people then you punish .

Jesus turned water into wine himself. I'm not sure that him and/or God care if I have a beer or two with my dinner.

And it was grape juice with no alcohol.

:lol2: Says who, your preacher?

Really, we have to have this conversation.

Do you really think Jesus is going to make water into alcohol.

My preacher doesnt have to tell me this.
