Best Gameday (Tailgating) Experience

Featured Replies

This was alluded to in the WKU/IU thread, and may have been discussed before, but I think it has been a while. For those folks who have been to several different college venues, which one offers the best overall experience? For me Alabama was the best tailgating, but the best overall game day experience is Notre Dame and it isn't even close.

I agree about Notre Dame. We went up for the game last year and it was a great time. Everyone was pretty nice and inviting. Plus we walked around campus and saw the sights for a couple hours before the game, and that was very cool as well. I would definitely go back to ND if I had the opportunity.

Penn State is a really good time. great people, great food, great atmosphere. It's not wild and crazy, but just a good, solid time. Plus, Happy Valley is a great small town. West Virginia is a huge party. Definitely a little more on the wild side of things. Ohio State is pretty cool too on game day. Really, I've been to about 10 different colleges on game day, and all of them have been pretty enjoyable.

Ohio State was great but kind of spread out. Florida was quite a party and so was Florida State. Never been to WV or Tennessee but they are on my list to hit someday. I'll still take Alabama & ND. :dancingpa

I have been to Bama and Tennessee before and it was great, but I wan't to go to the Grove.

At the top of the list of "Places I'll Never Go Again" is Morgantown...

Explain please. Because my interest was peaked by the earlier statement that it was wild.

If you don't have WVU stuff on, you are a target.

Great time if you are there for WVU, miserable and unwelcoming if you are not.......

I loved Morgantown. I admit, I was in college when I went, but it was a fun time. Lots of good dive bars and nightlife (although I swear I remember being in a bar that had a dirt floor!). Nice stadium, nice, large surrounding area to tailgate, with little to no bothering from authorities. It's an old town, but it's not too bad of a drive from here, and I think worth the trip, especially with WVU being in the Big 12.

Best I've ever been to was Clemson. People packed into every small corner of the campus to try and get everyone in there. The estimate I'd heard both times I was down there was that the stadium would hold 80,000 but that the local police and campus security would prepare for about double that to be on campus during game days. Fun and rowdy while being extremely friendly and welcoming...

...right up until the moment you walk into the stadium. Then they turn into the type of folks that boo injuries. :lol2:

Perfectly pleasant back out in the lots.

Put an opposing jersey on at almost any college game (or pro game) and you should expect some razzing.

Whole other level my friend.

I didn't see that the couple games I've been to at WVU. Then again, I was just there for the game, with no rooting interest, and wasn't rocking the other teams gear.

My first experience was 1998 vs Miami.

I was 20 and it was the wildest place I have been as far as actions towards other teams fans.....maybe wildest atmosphere p[period.

Ole Miss is pretty cool.
