Found this a little interesting... essentially Raceland has played the same schedule as 2014 (I consider Boyd and East Carter to be 1 for 1 swaps..EC probably even a little weaker)

 

Raceland Offense Through 4 games:

2015- 111 Points

2014- 157 Points

Averaging over 10 less points per game

 

2015- 1225 yards

2014- 1411 yards

Averaging 46.5 Less Yards Per Game

 

Which is what I expected really. I didnt think we would be as explosive. I expected to avg around 30 pts per game, but knew our defense would be just as good if not better. It has taken our offense longer to gel and our run game hasnt been as strong as I thought it would be, but our passing attack has been weak up to this point. Overall the offense is just inconsistent. From the play calling, on down to execution. But since the West Carter game it hasnt been due to a lack of effort. Its coming along, we will be fine.

Exacty why I just say L'Ville or Valley.

You never really know just how good Valley actually is... They play a weak schedule every year so they do rack up the wins but usually you dont know how good they are until they play burg. I believe that the school board member telling rambler about all these D1 athletes they have maybe slightly exaggerating. I mean thats 25% of their roster going D1 and unless Ohio State is giving water boys scholarships now theres no way Valley has any OSU commits. Qb is pretty good but Ashland has 10x the athletes Valley has. Just look how good Baker is and hes going to Marshall.

I know nothing about Valley so I can't really give any prediction or my own onsite to the game. But if they really do have 5 d1 athletes, it will be a tough win for Raceland, or anyone for that matter, that's a lot of talent for a small school. That said, Go Rams!

Well i know they have good size upfront, but Coal Grove did to every time we played and we were better. Kind of an interesting thing happened at my family reunion last weekend though.

 

My grandmother's 1st cousin's grandson was with him (not exactly sure how, but in short, the kid is my cousin). He had a Valley football shirt on so we started talking.

 

Now, I am 6'2" and weigh 275 lbs. He dwarfed me by probably 20-30 lbs and was easily 3 or 4 inches taller. Said he is a senior this year and I just kind if started picking his brain, getting some inside scoop lol. According to him their front 5 offensively are within 2 or 3 inches of him in height and withing 30lbs of his 300lb frame with the center being a good bit smaller than them. That being said, thats a massive line. He said there were a few guys getting looks from OU, Akron, Dayton and OSU. Never tooted his own horn though but Said they were a pretty good, but this was their last go at it for his class because they are apparently a senior heavy squad. I asked him about the teams they had played up to this point and he stated they were looking foward to playing a "real football team". So apparently, atleast he respects our program and feels we will put up some fight.

 

Ive watched some hudl highlights and valley has one really tough WR, a big bruising RB/MLB, a very tough looking QB and some good size and mobility upfront but nothing that really blows me away. I figure them to be about like Ashland with a little more size upfront.

 

Its a borderline incoherent rambling on my part lol, but does give a POSSIBLE, shot at how much tallent they actually have, but i just thought Id share it.

I seen where someone said that Lucasville Valley only had 21 players on their roster. I've been watching them on Hudl playing Coal Grove and there are 11 players on the field and an additional 35-40 on the sidelines. It may be that only 21 play, idk, but there's a slew dressed to play.

If they dress around 60, instead of 21, with 5 d1 athletes, well, that's a whole different ballgame. Those numbers would put them right up with Ashland in terms of players, but with 3 more d1 athletes.

They definitely have some good lineman, the Spradlin kid looks like a tough OT. With definite d1 size 6'5" 290 and moves really well. We should find out how much Isaac Wallace has from the DT spot this week. Wanted to give him a shout out. Very proud of that kid. He looks ALOT leaner this year (id say 30lbs lighter or so) and alot quicker. He has worked hard. If he grows another inch or two between now and next season, I could see him being a D1 player.

For what it is worth Valley is ranked 11th in Ohio's Division 6. There are 7 Divisions. 1 being large. 7 being smallest for anyone who dont know.

Issac is actually 60 lbs lighter than last year.

Valley's probably got 3 or 4 players that will be among the best Raceland will see this season. The QB can sling it and he's got a handful of talented pass catchers at his disposal. There's also a middle linebacker with excellent size(6'1", 235lbs) and quickness wreaking havoc on defense. Valley will be a great challenge for Raceland, but not an insurmountable one.

I am not so sure about Ashland having more Pure Athletes .... That's not a cut on Ashland at all. As I stated in another post, L'Ville has around 5 D1/Big time program kids. One already commited to the Buckeyes and from what a school board member had said there probably will be 3 to 4 more. One receiver from what I understood has narrowed down choices to Purdue, IU and OSU.

Ashland has more numbers, obviously more depth of good players but as for the pure "blue chip" players L'Ville may have more, at least as many. JMO.

 

As for the game itself, I believe that everything hinges on the very good Ram defense to somehow contain this teams passing and speed.

As in any game .... the big ugly's in the trenches will have a big say. Rams defense/ line imo has to get in their backfield and disrupt / stop the offense before it gets started, I am concerned about the speed factor.

I am a bleed orange and black Ram for life and will back the Rams, win or lose. After 47-50 years of this (I am 58) ...I see no reason to change.

He said Valley is better than Ironton, about as good as Wheelersburg. He said #24 is their best player, and he's a good one, but not even on the same level as Baker. He said in that area Portsmouth has a big offensive lineman that Ohio State is looking at, but no other kids from the area are going to get a smell.

Maybe so but I was just passing on info that came from a Valley school board member. I guess we will see just how good they are on Friday night.

RT, I posted a link from Max Preps earlier on this thread, they had a roster with 21 players listed. That's what I was going on when I posted that.

One thing is for certain and that is (unless Ohio has changed their rules) both teams can only put 11 on the field at a time and those 11 on the field will determine the outcome.

I haven't made a prediction on this game yet, everyone should know what my "heart" pick is but my logic tells me that this one is going to be tough. Playing a good, unbeaten Ohio team at their place, to say the least will be very tough for the Rams to come out with the W.

So having said all that to me Valley is the logical, solid favorite. I have never been accused of being "logical" when it comes to Raceland Ram Football :sssh:. I have witnessed too many Ram teams go into a game where by all "logic" and "on paper" the opponent should win only to see Raceland band together and come out with a Win. OOPS, I just cut my arm and there's the ORANGE and BLACK Blood running down my arm .......
