Votto to be suspended?

Featured Replies

Votto is the guy you've trusted the future of this organization to, like it or not he's the poster boy for this Reds franchise who won't be able to afford any front line starters in the next 7 years or so, because of his salary.

P.S. Don't kid yourself either, the Reds minor league system is poor at best. I realize they are trying to make Robert Stevenson out to be the next Cy Young, most if not all other organization will tell you he's a #3-4 at best

You probably need to rethink that. While the Reds system isn't the best, they do have 5 top 100 prospects, #29 - Winker, #38 - Stephenson, #74 - Garrett, #98 - Stephenson, Tyler, & #99 - Mella).

Most scouts consider Stephenson a #1 or #2 down the road. He's the #8 RHP prospect in the entire game.

Oh, that Stephenson, he'll be a #4-5 at best, my bad.

A lot of MLB team sure do, go back and look at what some organization said about Bailey as well, dead on, at a #3 started most likely, and that's almost dead on.

So touching umpires is OK, just because, he's your guy? come on man! 2nd time this season, 3-5 games, maybe more.

He DID NOT touch the umpire from what I saw. That was an acting job by said umpire. Nothing there.

So that means what? No one is projecting Stephenson as a 3-4 but you. You may be right in the long run but you have noting to base that off.

RaiderRailBird has to be a St. Louis Cardinal fan, no wait, a Cubs fan,

Votto is one of the best players in baseball, don't have a hard time paying him, the other contracts are not very good, including Bailey, but moving forward needs to be focused on our young pitchers.

Now back to the thread, Votto will be suspended at least 3-5 games in my opinion because it has happened before, do I agree with it, yes, do I like that he went nuts? Yes, guy deserved it

FYI the Reds are ranked 27th in the minor league systems, guessing in your eyes, all the players that you've mentioned are all can't miss prospects, just like the #1 player in the minor leagues for the Reds in Brandon Larson was years ago, how'd that workout? Prospects = suspects until proven other wise, just like the fact that Billy( strikeout ) Hamilton, has never, and will never hit all of a sudden, just because. This Reds organization is very flawed right now, and changes need to made, starting at the top. I.E. Jockerty

At this point does anyone really care if Votto is suspended?

Clearly no prospect, regardless of how highly they're thought of, is can't miss. Similarly, no prospect is a definite bust as you seem to think the Reds prospects all are.

I'll trust guys that get paid to do it for a living over your opinion.

At this point does anyone really care if Votto is suspended?

As I mentioned earlier, someone clearly does based on their posts in this thread....;)

Nope just a sick and tired Reds fan, who can see nothing coming over the horizon, like the Astros, Cubs, Cards, Indians, Pirates, and Royals all have coming up. All these teams should and will be winners over the next 5-10 years because of good farm systems, something this Reds organization has only recently started to understand, and see just how important your farm system has got to be in this market sized team, in the Reds.

Where did all the current Reds players come from? (Prior to all these trades)

Sounds like I'm in the minority, but I think Votto will get suspended & deserves to get suspended. Probably only one game, which is fair.

This is the 2nd time that Votto has exploded, which I find a bit bizarre given his normal demeanor. It's tough to tell if he made contact or not, but I think he'll ultimately get a one game suspension and, since the Reds are out of it, nobody will care to appeal.

On another note, the only thing worse than "hold me back" guy is the person who insists on holding people back.

100% agree the strike zone was bad last night, but there is never a time it is OK to bump, or touch an umpire. 100% Votto touched Welke's face, with his nose, and spit. This is Votto's second incident this season, and the MLB experts are saying he'll be recieving a suspension of 3-5 games, maybe more, which sounds about right. Votto is a great hitter, but has the mental toughness of pudding.

Show me the 100% proof that Votto's nose touched Welke's face. Don't worry, I'll wait.

I came to this thread to read about the incident involving Votto last night and the same retread posts about the Reds organization seemed to have taken over.

Phillips= your second best hitter, from the Indians

Bruce= Farm hand, who most want run out of town

Hamilton= Farm hand. can't hit MLB pitching, period end of story

Suarez= maybe close to your second best hitter, from the Tigers

Frazier= Farm hand. Mr. 211 since the all star break, and a career .222 hitter in the second half of the season.

Left Field, take your pick, a Black hole, at best

Mez= Farm hand, IF healthy and can catch, i do think he's a keeper

Votto=Farm hand, who this team simple can't afford, and be competitive at the same time.

Homer Bailey= the greatest Jedi trick ever pulled on an organization, one of this organizations WORST re-signings ever.

So it's pretty clear that only 2 players on your current, if healthy, team is a good, to above ever day player, that being Votto, and Mez. this should show you just how bad the reds are with there farm teams at this point, thank you for making my point.
