You can't argue s warren has better wins now. The Owensboro over Warren central win @ WKU is as good as SW beating JH at Home, plus OHS beat top 2a Owensboro catholic.

 

SW has played Apollo and Greenwood. BG is probably top 3 and still maybe top 1 but according to the loss belongs at 4 until next week

And Daviess County needs to at least be mentioned on the list, beat Ocath in OT and is 3-0. They played within 11 points of SWarren last year and return some good athletes.

I'd take Russellville out and put in E'Town. Nothing against the Panthers, but, the N.Oldham win trumps Butler Co win and both played cupcakes the 1st 2 weeks, and, even there, the E'Town wins were more impressive than Russellville's.

UK, there are metrics to support your opinion here and I have mentioned ETown a couple times and think they are in that 7 to 12 range. When comparing 2 3-0 teams though sometimes you really split hairs. I think they make the jump up soon; just didn't think it was this week with Russellville getting their best win this week ON THE ROAD as well.

Brown, you are entitled to your opinion.

My thoughts are SWarren still has the best win vs a John Hardin squad that has rebounded nicely when many didn't think they would. Apollo is not a great win. Greenwood is better than they have been in the past.

Mayfield beat a good (not great) Paducah Tilghman team on the road and is a very solid win, but that's a 3A school. They also beat Ft Campbell who is obviously struggling this year and 5A Marshall County, who I'm assuming every Mayfield fan felt they could beat with a running clock.

Owensboro is a VERY good team. They beat a Warren Central club that is good, but how do I use that when they have lost every game. It's not their fault they can't play at home yet or have a Tornado of a schedule. Everyone in the know understands Madisonville is down this year and they haven't won a game. Now OCath is a terrific 2A squad that definitely could make some noise later in the year, but now they have 1 win over 1A Holy Cross.

 

I respect your opinion, but feel the stones your throwing are hollow at this point in the season.

Brown, I love the Daviess County story as I know they have been down for awhile. I put them in the Pre-season Next 10 and personally think they are still there. Why? I find it hard to displace any of the current Top 10 with a team that has the students to be in 6A and competes with schools in 2A and 4A (I understand they will get there when district time comes). But the 4A teams they beat haven't won a game (0-6). And my opinion is OCath clearly overlooked them. Is that Davies fault? Absolutely not. Beat a 6A team and we'll talk.

1) South Warren/John Hardin was NEUTRAL. It was at WKU, not on South's home field.

 

2) Yes Owensboro beat Warren Central. But South Warren flattened John Hardin ... and Warren Central just got BEAT by John Hardin. So South beating John trumps/overrules Owensboro beating Warren Central (which is winless, FWIW).

 

3) Owensboro beat Owensboro Catholic. ... So did Daviess (who is unbeaten and unranked).

 

If you're going to be throwing some love toward Owensboro, then you better do it for South Warren (better win), John Hardin (beat Warren Central too) and Daviess County (also beat Owensboro Catholic).

Beating WC and Ocath is better than John Hardin, who WC took all the way at JH. Neither WC nor JH were great wins.

I just don't see with the games played you can say beating a mediocre JH team, with Apollo and Greenwood puts you above Mayfield and Owensboro. Bottom line is you don't have a win better than beating John Hardin. You can puff up winless Warren Central and 1 1A win OCath all you want, but you're still below South. Beat BG and it won't matter!

I don't personally believe that beating Warren Central is better than John Hardin, but I also don't fully understand how you could fail to entertain that they're relatively close when Central and John Hardin basically showed on even ground the other day. I think South Warren was more impressive in their win than Owensboro was, but the two teams, Central and John Hardin, not that far apart.

DFire, I didn't mean to make it sound that harsh as I agree with this context. I felt Brown needed alittle more forceful message as he doesn't feel South Warren deserves to be at the top of the list.

Hey guys umm just wait till this weekend a lot will be answered then. 2 interesting games BG plays Owensboro and South plays Central Hardin.

If I ranked on who I thought would beat whom right now it would be Mayfield, BG and OHS and SW tied for third. Good job and research.

 

One point about WC vs JH, WC was missing some key players if I remember. The game was at JH and very tight. I think WC is better than most realize.
