GCHS travels up river to Ram Stadium for the annual "rumble on the river" rivalry. GC is bringing a team loaded with confidence along with the best GC team in quite a few years, imo. Both GC and Raceland are coming off wins. Raceland hopefully got some frustrations along with mistakes worked out in their running clock win over ECHS. Greenup Co. beat Fleming and are sky high for the Rams. Raceland has owned GC in the last several years but imo this season is no automatic W for the Rams, anything but that. Truth be known I would just about say that GCHS wants this one more than any game on their schedule this year.

This game always promises to be a very hard hitting county rivalry.

Lets hear any thoughts / predictions that everyone has on this game.

Another good game this Friday. Greenup think they win this game

I know in my regional contest I picked Raceland but before I make my prediction in this thread I'm going to wait a few days to let that game from last night not impact my decision.

 

 

If Greenup defense is as advertised I think they win this game. But no official decision yet from me

36, 44, 37, 25...that's the margins of victory for Raceland over Chris Mullins led Greenup teams. The last victory Greenup had over Raceland was in 2010 when Mike Copley was the coach. Humiliating Greenup has become an annual fall event in Ram country. It seems to be the general consensus that Greenup is getting better, though. That being said, I think this game is very important to their program. They couldn't get over the hump against Russell even though they actually appeared to have the ability to win the game. It's hard to overcome the disease of losing when the teams you're playing expect to win. Now here is another opportunity to get a statement win. What will they do? Continue to be the 4A whipping boys to the 1A Rams or will they actually compete? Lots of intrigue to this game.

I'll take the RAMS @ home. They'll be ready.

As I said before, GC wants this game more than any on their schedule. I know a lady that has kids in GCHS and she told me her son said "I don't care if we end up 1-9 as long as we beat Raceland".

Should this Raceland team come out just going through the motions, expecting the opponent to lay down bc they are Raceland then our friends son will get his wish of beating the Rams. I believe that Raceland is still looking for a couple of "Leaders" to step up. Improvements, along with maybe a hint of this Raceland team's potential started to show up a little in the 2nd half vs. East C. last Friday. Hopefully this 2015 Rams team is starting to "get it", meaning what it takes mentally and physically to be the team everyone seems to think they can be. First couple of games and a half of the third imo found the Rams reading their press clippings, listening to everyone telling them how good they are. That's a recipe for failure.

Like others, I am going to have to think more over this one before I pick. I believe that this one could be one of those "instant classics".

Having seen both teams I honestly believe that Greenup is better in all aspects of the game. Not much better in any of them but better. That being said its a close one.

Watched this Raceland team vs. Ashland and they aren't physical, don't play as hard as I have seen past Raceland teams. Raceland teams that I am used to watching and competing against would get you down and wouldn't let you up for air. This team doesn't play hard at all.

GCHS will win easily.

Raceland is going to have to fight to win this game honestly. I believe this Greenup team may be better than Raceland. What's gonna determine the outcome is if Greenup can matchup with Racelands line. That's where Raceland has an advantage on a lot of teams is with the big guys (I don't know what you guys feed them but I want some of it for our boys here).

How have these 2 teams done against each other over the years from JFL and middle school?

Greenup is improved from a year ago. Their defense is really aggressive and did enough last year to beat Raceland in Lloyd, they just couldnt put any points on the board. I think Raceland's offense is beginning to gel a little bit. Nathaniel looks better and better from the QB spot each and every week and continues to get various recievers the ball. Some changes made upfront helped the running game. Kane Snyder looked more like his oldself last week and Bailey Walker has been running really well (if he doesnt fumble the football he is the best over all back we have) and Carson Christian has remained consistent all season. Greenup is improved and play good defense, but I think Raceland takes this one at home on JFL night.
