We have been talking about the BC and American Pharoah et. al., but my absolute favorite is Wise Dan who is recovering well from his injury. My dream has him repeating...for his 3rd consecutive win.. in the Woodbine, then running (and winning) the BC turf mile then retiring.

I'm a big Wise Dan fan too. He had been my I-phone background pic for a couple years before AP won Triple Crown. Debated whether to switch back. I'll wait until BC is over to decide. Love the longevity of Wise Dan, wish more horses would stay in the game to at least 5 yrs. old. The benefit of Geldings (i.e. - John Henry).

 

Could be epic day at Keeneland late Oct., hoping all show up!

I have actually seen Wise Dan lose. He got a standing ovation that day.

Was that a rainy day at Keeneland when he lost to Optimizer when they took race off the Turf? I was there for that one. A let down for sure, but explainable.

The lucky Dan I remember is from "The Sting".

I saw today where Wise Dan has a tear on a tendon and will be retired. Well deserved retirement for this guy.

Didn't want to believe you, so I went to Bloodhorse.com to confirm.

 

As a FAN of the sport & not really a big gambler on the sport, I am Saddened by this.

 

If ever asked my favorite horse of all time . . its always been Easy Goer, but Dan is my 1A.

Me too...but I am glad he is retired before he is seriously (as in fatally) injured. He is most likely going to LoPresti's Forest Lane farm to eat, sleep, poop massive amounts and do horse stuff.
