August 31, 201511 yr My Senior year of high school the varsity baseball coach was a women. Really? I don't remember that. My Senior year was her first year at the school. Ms. Miller, now Mrs. Sargent, Asst. Principal, she played semi pro football....not powder puff, professional softball(I think), was/is high school football referee....awesome teacher and person!

Played some high caliber softball with this wonderful lady. Not that stuff @Lawnboy played. She is a great person and leader. I could see her handling the task of coaching boys. Not a fan of mixed gender coaching as I think locker room time is important and often it has to be avoided with the other sex coaching.
August 31, 201511 yr Coaches should be hired/fired based on performance. Not sure where gender plays a role. Now, with that said: Does Becky Hammon have sound basketball advice for future HOFer Tim Duncan? I doubt it, but its really impossible (at least for me) to say she is not qualified to coach him. I think if one of my coaches were female, I'd play as hard as I can, just as I do for my male coaches. The other question that comes to mind: Do females have a desire to coach male professional athletes? Because when I look into my future I see myself coaching basketball, but (call me sexist) I have no desire to coach women.
August 31, 201511 yr It honestly depends. It wouldn't bother me if I was playing but locker room privacy would be something big. Would you all have did the things you did in your locker rooms had a female been in that office?
