Now that they've got the 1st game under their belt I hope the Tomcats have the chippiness out of their system, and we won't see the yellow flags flying for 15 yard penalties. If they've cleared that up I'll take the Cats.

Ashland 28

GW 20

I looked at the Huntington paper and was surprised to see hat GW gained 400 on the ground. I watched some film on them and they arrested to be pass heavy. I don't think they can run on Ashland as well they did against Parkersburg. I believe we will see a more focused and disciplined Ashalnd team this week and I think we will see the beginnings of some diversity. GW obviously must stop the run first. If they don't no. Need to diversify. If Ashland can wum the turnover battle they should win.

Seem like every year we play GW it's 95 degrees. Anyway GO TOMCATS!!!

They still playing with two QBs or did they decide? I guess you all will find out. Good luck Tomcats!

In my opinion if Ashland doesn't get a passing game going it's just a matter of time before everyone just stacks the box and dares them to throw. Ashlands o-line is a lot better than last year and even with Q running and kurtland backing him up you can only block so many people. If they want to go far this year they need some passing just to keep teams honest. That said Ashland finds a way to win this week. Don't think GW can stop the ground attack

From watching last weeks game you wouldn't even know we played a qb. We only threw one pass early in the game. It was just the first game though, I expect coach is trying to ease the new guys into the position. I would expect a few more passes tonight and Dowdy to get mist, if not all of the reps.

I agree about the passing game, Ashkabd has to develop one to stand a chance against a team like JC, that has a great defense and can run the clock. But on the flip side the qb's had never started a varsity game until last week. Baby steps.

Dowdy throws a good ball on the short routes. I expect as the season goes on he will be given more opportunities to work on his game. I expect he will get a few more opportunities tonight now that he has a game under his belt and another week of practice/film. But by a "few," that's exactly what I mean, I doubt they throw the ball much until later in the season.

Oh I've saw the film you guys only threw a total of two passes. One to throw it away before a sack and one was an interception.

It worked though, but gonna need a lot more diversity to further the season. Hopefully they get it going tonight

No doubt. There will certainly be games where Ashland needs a more balanced attack. Hopefully the coaches are just trying to ease the qb into the starting position. The interception looked like a well thrown ball, Dowdy didn't see the Raceland linebacker that picked it though. That's something he's gonna have to work on as he's not strong enough to thread the needle. Baby steps though, it won't take much of a passing game for Ashland to keep defenses honest this season.
