August 28, 201511 yr With tropical storm Erika, now, predicted to go straight up the center of the state, Florida Governor Rick Scott declared state of emergency to ready for it's arrival... http://www.flgov.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/EO-15-173.pdf
August 28, 201511 yr Author 11 am track. It shows the "center" of the storm to be northeast of Tampa on Tuesday morning. My guess is that it is headed out into the gulf. Not a good thing for us. I'd rather it stay on it's current path.
August 28, 201511 yr Author Yikes! Better hunker down, Swamprat and be safe! I'm going out at lunch, today, to get gas for the generator and a bottle of gas for the grill. We've got plenty of canned goods and meat in the freezer. We could go a week or 3 without needing anything. In the event of power loss over an extended period, I have a transfer switch set up to transfer power from my generator to my well pump, the water filtration system, the lift station for the septic system, freezer, refrigerator, internet system, and one bedroom. I have a window shaker that I can quickly put into the powered bedroom. Mrs. S can go in there and continue on as if life never changed. Until I run out of gas for the generator. I also have sufficient ammo, just in case chaos reigns, so we should be good.
August 28, 201511 yr Author Hunker down and be safe, swampy. Window shaker? Window air conditioner. Mrs. S is a delicate flower. I can't let her overheat.
August 28, 201511 yr I never liked that name, lol Dated one in college, storm is aptly named from my experience.
August 29, 201511 yr Author Erika is doing like I thought it would. Hope it continues moving west or weakens further. If it stays as is next Tuesday and Wednesday are not going to be a pleasant days, here. Even though it's not a hurricane, it will still have winds and dump rainfall on an area that is still completely saturated from last month's record setting rainfall. The worst place to be in on the southeast side of a storm like this.
