Police: Louisiana trooper dies after being shot in head

He said the tape shows the shotgun blast. "I saw my trooper go backwards and back toward his unit, where he was going to try to get some help out there," Edmonson said.

After the shooting, he said, Daigle wandered into the road and over to Vincent, asking if he was alive.

"You could hear him breathing, telling him, 'You're lucky. You're lucky — you're going to die soon.' That's the words that came out of his mouth," Edmonson said.

RIP.

Prayers for his family and friends.

Senseless.

Give that guy the gas. He looks a little crazy if you ask me.

RIP to the officer.

So sad...same area in La. where the theater shooting was a few weeks ago.

Absolutely horrible. Just so completely unnecessary.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the officers family and friends.

Trooper was trying to help him and the guy does this...I have zero pity or sympathy for this piece of crap and what ever happens to him probably isn't enough.

Firing squad of one. The State Troopers brother.

What a shame. Not sure what an officer is supposed to do to protect themselves from these crazy people.

Sadly, there is the rub. Wish in hindsight the officer would have had his weapon drawn, assuming he didn't.

I'm really wondering what police force will be the first to have their officers approach cars with weapons at the "ready" as their primary policy until they assess the situation and don't see the need for it. I think we are heading that way.

Who could blame them?

Not me thats for sure.

That's unbelievably sad. The face on that man gave me the chills. Like looking the devil straight in the evils.
