charlesw88
He performed just as we expected. He was like 14-16 for 165 yards and 2 TD. Then we sat him the second half. Good deal! Impressive stats.
uk#1fan
LexCath gets another easy Boone County school this week.
charlesw88
Not to get off track but since you went there. Is Ryle really an easy win? I know they just came off a win against Covington Catholic and they aren't necessarily a bad team. Curious to hear your thoughts...
LEX
Listen up..... The Ryle game will not be easy for LexCath for a number of reasons. Ryle looked good against our pass coverage in 7 on 7 and they have a strong running back that we have to try to tackle for 4 quarters. Their defense doesn't get a lot of credit but I do love their tenacity on that side of the ball. It will not be easy and we have to bring our A game. My biggest concern is this. You have a team in Ryle who played a competitive game down to the wire with a good CovCath to prepare them for this upcoming Friday. We had a one sided game against a rebuilding Boone County game that makes you look good on the highlight reel but it doesn't translate to making you ready for a step up in opposition. I hope the young men at LexCath take practice and Ryle very serious because it won't be a quick 44 points at halftime and everyone is on the sidelines laughing. It will be a game where adjustments and a few breaks will determine the winner.

For me, I do believe Lexington Catholic will beat Ryle but it will not be like Boone County. The young man at QB will be tested so let's see how he responds. LEX
We're getting into it the next 3 weeks. Can't wait! If they are healthy they have a chance to make some noise before district play. With CovCath, Ryle, Cooper, Johnson Central and Southwestern we will be battle tested regardless of our record and seeding in the 3A tournament. Not sure if the BCS formula ways heavy for schedule strength but we have to be up there in 3A
Butterfingers
Just curious why the redistricting has hurt the football team so badly but other sports, baseball, basketball to name a few have been able to compete pretty well

LEX
If I am on the Boone County staff I put the full court press on the kids in the hallways. I've seen it at a lot of schools that perform poorly on Fridays, their best talent may be sitting in the stands and roaming the hallways. I would invite them, call, tweet, email, text and maybe schedule an at home visit with their parents. If I'm going down I'm going down swinging. We all have seen those kids who are on the fence about playing and the coaches may have ignored them or didn't speak to them so they didn't come out. This is a generation that can benefit from what football can do for them in the game of life. I would pluck talent from the baseball, track, lacrosse and basketball team. I would allow them to play football and the other ones too. Too many schools want their kids all in on one so you know at a struggling Boone County the football team may end up on the short end if you make them choose.... Scratch43
I know I'm just stupid. A team goes 2-31 in 3 years under two different coaches. Everyone knows that redistricting has taken a toll. You need to re-group. Who made this schedule? Why let 'pride of past' make your kids endure a schedule like this? It doesn't make sense to me. Northerner
Did not make it to this game. I was at Lafayette/ Dunbar/ Scott Co/ Tates Creek game. I see that QB did well, but how about the receivers? Also curious to know how those young LB's do?
Hellbird
I've heard people in Florence complain since 1998 that Ryle opening killed them. The problem is that Florence has no room for growth while the other schools still have areas where housing is going up left and right. So unfortunately for Boone, the other schools will soon have even more athletes to choose from with higher enrollment numbers. I don't see it getting any ether for Boone unless another Shaun Alexander type player falls in their lap.

Also curious to know how those young LB's do? LBs played well. Boone scored on a kick return and against the younger kids in the 2nd half. Receivers were their usual dynamic selves. Donnie Morris had 9 catches for 91 yards and 1 TD, Chris Thompson had 2 TD receptions, and Andy Thompson returned a punt for a TD.
