August 11, 201511 yr I disagree Sanders is here for the long haul unless Biden jumps in and gets Obama's support. Sanders is a self described socialist. I'd be drooling if I were a Republican strategist if he wins the nomination. Secret Service protection doesn't kick in until 120 days before the General Election. Sanders won't be around that long.

August 11, 201511 yr Sounds like it worked. Bernie released a new plan regarding police brutality. What does it entail?
August 11, 201511 yr This is scary stuff when people jump on stage when someone is speaking. Cannot let in continue. Can lead to really bad things. You don't know someone's intention when they jump onto a stage like that. I cannot stand Bernie Sanders' politics at all but he deserves more respect than that. The fact that this is may be working is "rewarding bad behavior". As long as they don't get violent I have no major issues with it. There definitely should be way more security for Sanders and he deserves to be protected by any means necessary. At the same time I like that he is listening and working towards an answer. He got some points from me for addressing their concerns. People just want to be heard and not ignored. So far it is working but he deserves better protection for sure. I am with you, ggc. If you want to shout from the rooftop and protest accordingly, more power to you. But at some point a line has to be drawn. I liken it to fans at sporting events... they have no place on a court during live action. That is their sanctuary, so to speak.

August 11, 201511 yr At times it has kicked in a lot earlier. Only in special situations. For example, Hillary gets it because of the detail attached to ex-POTUS and immediate family. A sitting VP running for POTUS would also be afforded this protection.

In 2004 Kerry and Edwards started receiving U.S.S.S. protection that February. 8 years ago U.S.S.S. protection was afforded to all candidates a few months before the 180 day until election date kicked in. I am not sure of the exact month, but I do believe it was late spring of 2008. August 12, 201511 yr Bernie Sanders is now leading Hillary in New Hampshire Not really a huge surprise since he's from Vermont and those two states have a wacky electorate makeup.
August 12, 201511 yr Not really a huge surprise since he's from Vermont and those two states have a wacky electorate makeup. CNN is reporting that it is more likely that Bernie wins both Iowa and NH , than not. Which would lead to a very interesting Super Tuesday.
August 12, 201511 yr CNN is reporting that it is more likely that Bernie wins both Iowa and NH , than not. Which would lead to a very interesting Super Tuesday. A LOT to unfold between now and New Hampshire/Iowa, but that is certainly interesting. New Hampshire was a Hillary stronghold in 2008.
